Week 14 Deep Sleepers – The Case For Josh Allen

With this latest batch of Week 14 Deep Sleepers, Senior Fantasy Football Expert Adam Ronis points out who you may want to submit into your starting lineup.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

QB Josh Allen vs. NYJ

Quarterbacks that can run make a big difference in Fantasy and Allen is the epitome. Allen has been a QB1 the last two games due to his rushing. Allen had 13 carries for 99 yards with a rushing score and passed for 160 yards with a touchdown in Week 12 against the Jaguars and rushed for 135 yards on nine carries and passed for 231 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions last week against the Dolphins. In eight of the last nine games, the Jets have allowed multiple touchdown passes. The Jets have allowed 263.8 passing yards per game. When the Jets faced the Bills in Week 10, they allowed Matt Barkley to pass for 240 yards and two touchdowns.

RB Ty Montgomery vs. BAL

Even with Kenneth Dixon returning last week, Montgomery played 27 snaps and had three carries for 13 yards and caught five passes for 42 yards on seven targets. Gus Edwards hasn’t been used in the passing game, allowing Montgomery to get on the field. The Chiefs have allowed 83 receptions for 809 yards and six touchdowns to running backs. No one has allowed more passing yards to running backs, and a significant part of it is teams playing from behind against the Chiefs. Montgomery had ten targets the last two weeks with the team attempting only 25 passes per game, and it should increase this week.

RB Nyheim Hines @HOU

This could be a game where Hines plays a more prominent role than Marlon Mack. In a close game last week, the Colts went away from the run and used Hines more. Mack had eight carries for 27 yards last week and played 38 percent of the snaps, and the Texans have allowed the third-fewest rushing yards to running backs. Hines played 59 percent of the snaps last week and had nine catches for 50 yards. The Texans allow 6.2 receptions per game to running backs, making this a good spot for Hines.

WR Zay Jones vs. NYJ

Jones has been productive in two of the last three games. The one game he struggled he didn’t get a catch, but it was against the Jaguars. Jones faced the Jets in Week 10 and had 11 targets, catching eight passes for 63 yards with a touchdown. Against the Dolphins last week, Jones had four catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets. The Jets have allowed the fourth-most Fantasy points to wide receivers and allowed 648 receiving yards to the position over the last three games. The Bills released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes, leaving Jones as the receiver Josh Allen has the best rapport with.

WR Michael Gallup vs. PHI

I thought Gallup was going to be a Fantasy factor at the end of the season before the Cowboys acquired Amari Cooper. The Cowboys rely heavily on the run and play at a slow pace, so it’s difficult to rely on multiple players consistently. Gallup has been close to scoring the last two games. He was wide open for a long touchdown on Thanksgiving, and Dak Prescott missed him, and he narrowly missed getting his second foot inbounds in the end zone. Gallup has 18 targets the last three games and had five catches for 76 yards last week. The Eagles allow the second-most Fantasy points to wide receivers and are playing backups.

TE Ian Thomas @CLE

Thomas didn’t do much when Greg Olsen was out earlier in the season. When Olsen left the game last week, Thomas caught all five of his targets for 46 yards. The Browns allow the sixth-most Fantasy points to tight ends and have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends in the last five games.
