Evaluating Top Fantasy Rookies’ Landing Spots & Fantasy Impact

  1. RB Josh Jacobs, OAK

Jon Gruden and newly-hired GM Mike Mayock have already made some questionable decisions quickly into their tenure but used one of their three 2019 first round picks to nab their running of the future. With only Isaiah Crowell and Jalen Richard occupying the position, Jacobs is in a unique position this year to obtain the immediate workload from day one. Expect RB2 numbers throughout his rookie year with a Sony Michel-like floor in value after the conclusion of his rookie season. Do not hesitate to select Jacobs at 1.01 in any dynasty format as he provides the best combination of floor and ceiling of any rookie in the 2019 rookie class.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: Fantasy Rookie Primer

(Updated: April 18 – More players coming soon!)

Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

  • Height / Weight: 5’10” – 207 pounds
  • Projected Round: Top 3 pick
  • Potential Landing Spots: ARI
  • Compares To: Russell Wilson
  • Projected Dynasty Pick: 2.7

Analysis: Murray is a rare playmaking talent who dominated college football in his one year as a starter at Oklahoma. He is relatively small for a QB, but he has excellent pocket awareness and a powerful arm. He goes through his progressions well and is very effective and accurate while throwing on the run. His elusiveness is beyond reproach, and he can outrun linebackers when he breaks into the open field. The biggest concerns for him are clearly his durability and throwing over taller defenders.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: 3 Need-To-Happen Draft Day Trades

Daily Dr. Roto — April 23, 2019

3 Need-To-Happen Draft Day Trades

The NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday and teams will be wheeling and dealing trying to make trades to either move up or move back to help fix their rosters. Here are three trades that should be made on draft day to help their respective teams.

1. Washington Redskins trade #15 overall and 2020’s first-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for #9 overall.

Why does this make sense? The Redskins desperately need a QB, and unless they want to trade for Josh Rosen, there is a good chance that Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins, Daniel Jones, and Drew Lock might all be gone by pick 15.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: Shawn Childs’ Top 5 Running Backs

Shawn Childs’ Top 5  Prospects

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Tight Ends

Josh Jacobs, Alabama

Resume won’t be the friend of Jacobs heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, but his talent does shine through when given an opportunity. Over his 40 games at Alabama as a part-time player, Josh rushed for 1,491 yards on 251 carries with 16 TDs plus looked the part of an upside player in the passing game (48/571/5). He runs with patience, vision, and power while lacking the finishing speed to top off a long run for a TD. His lateral movements come with his eyes looking for daylight at the second level of the defense.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: Shawn Childs’ Top 5 Quarterbacks

Shawn Childs’ Top 5  Prospects

Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

After a slow start to his college career, Murray finally earned a starting opportunity in 2019 for the Oklahoma Sooners. His arm played well (4,361 passing yards with 42 TDs and seven Ints) leading to a high completion rate (69.0 percent). The best part of his game came on the ground where Kyler rushed for 1,001 yards on 140 carries (7.2 yards per rush) while chipping in with another 12 TDs. He lacks the NFL profile as far as size (5’10” and 205 lbs.), but his arm is exceptional, and his legs are electric. Murray shows patience in the pocket with a plus feel for the pass rush.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: 5 Rookie Running Backs You Need To Know

2019 Rookies You Need To Know
Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Tight Ends

Josh Jacobs, Alabama

  • Height: 5’10”
  • Weight: 220 lbs
  • 40 time: 4.5
  • Projected Round: Late 1st
  • Compares to: Sony Michel
  • Potential Landing Spots: OAK, PHI, HOU, TB
  • Projected Dynasty Pick: 1.4

Analysis: Jacobs is a complete running back and considered the top back in a weak running back class. He is physical and can pick up the tough yards. He rarely goes down on initial contact. Jacobs can catch the football, too. One of his best traits is his vision. Jacobs has quick feet and is elusive. One of the questions about Jacobs is he was never the focal point of the offense and never led the backfield in touches.… Continue reading ...

2019 NFL Draft: 5 Rookie Tight Ends You Need To Know

2019 Rookies You Need To Know
Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Tight Ends

Noah Fant, Iowa

  • Height: 6’4:
  • Weight: 249 lbs
  • 40 time: 4.5
  • Projected Round: 1st
  • Compares to: Eric Ebron
  • Potential Landing Spots: DET, GB, OAK
  • Projected Dynasty Pick: 1.12

Analysis: You can make the case that Fant is the most dangerous pure receiving tight end in this draft. However, he’s not nearly as well-rounded as fellow Hawkeye T.J. Hockenson. While athletic and dangerous up the seam his lack of versatility will likely limit his snaps as a rookie. All the upside is there but we have seen players like this hold huge bust potential or at the very least take a few years to make their mark.… Continue reading ...
