What makes their opinion so worthy? Simple. They win. Year in and year out they’re winners. While some may ask, “Why would they help me?”, there is no question that when their pride and integrity is on the line, they step up and make bold calls to help others. When we have questions on Sunday, this is who we call. We’re essentially bringing our high stakes connections to #FullTime.
When your league is on the line, who do you trust? Jay from accounting? Some website freelancer who tells you 15 stats about why Breece Hall is the next big thing, who’s never won 10 cents? No. Those days are over. Not all experts are considered equal.
Starting with Jody Smith who more than 12 years of content experience and has been named Fantasy Pro’s Most Accurate Rankings Expert. Jody also topped the betting leaderboards in 2020 and submitted the 8th-most accurate draft rankings last season! He absolutely nailed James Conner as his 2021 Sleeper of the Year and he’s got a long list of success in all fantasy football formats. Here we go…
BREAKOUT
Michael Pittman (WR) Indianapolis Colts During the 2021 NFL season, Pittman already posted WR18 numbers. But I believe the third-year wideout has top-10 overall upside in 2022. While he already compiled a 25.7% target share in 2021, Pittman is still an ascending talent.
Pittman checks all the boxes for being a dominant No. 1 receiver. He’s built like Mike Evans, ran the third-highest route rate of any receiver, and can dominate in contested-catch situations from the perimeter or slot. Now, Pittman gets to play with QB Matt Ryan, who targeted his No. 1 WR an average of 160 times from 2008-2020. I love targeting Pittman in the third round of my drafts and think he’s going to have a monster WR1 campaign.
SLEEPER
Travis Etienne (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars Most of us were excited for Etienne last year but his rookie campaign ended before it began. Now, Etienne is fully healthy and ready to live up to that rookie hype. Plus, he’s in a much better place with Doug Pederson in charge. Pederson’s offenses have finished 11th or better in rushing in seven of his eight seasons as a play-caller. James Robinson is working his way back from a devastating Achilles injury while Etienne has looked like a potential star so far in training camp. I expect Etienne to take the lion’s share of touches for the Jaguars and think he’s got top-15 upside in PPR formats.
BUST
Jaylen Waddle (WR) Miami Dolphins Coming off of a successful rookie campaign that resulted in an overall WR14 finish, Jaylen Waddle is being drafted with the furor you would suspect for a young target hog. But, spending early 2022 draft capital on the sophomore wideout is riskier than you might think.
First, the acquisition of Tyreek Hill, Cedrick Wison, and RB Chase Edmonds guarantees that Waddle won’t command a 22.7% target share again. Hill and Wilson combined to command 221 targets in 2021 and Hill is most likely to lead Miami in looks this season. Secondly, it’s hard to put that much faith in QB Tua Tagovailoa. Tua has ranked 35th and 27th in fantasy points per game among quarterbacks. There are limitations to his game and it is hard to envision him taking such a massive leap in Year Three that he can support two fantasy WR2s in 2022.
Finally, looking at FullTime’s Strength of Schedule Tool, the Dolphins play the most demanding schedule for wide receivers in 2022. The playoff slate for Miami is also rough. Starting in Week 13, the Dolphins end the fantasy campaign with games against San Francisco, Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay, Buffalo, and New England in Week 17. This all adds up to me having difficulty projecting Waddle as a top-20 wideout in 2022.
COMEBACK
Christian McCaffrey (RB) Carolina Panthers Lamentably, Run CMC was a popular comeback pick last year but ended up missing another 10 games. At this point, it is certainly fair to ask if McCaffrey’s early workload has taken its toll. After missing 23 games in two years, it isn’t hard to see why many are fading McCaffrey this season.
However, McCaffrey was still an elite fantasy option last season in a dreadful offense. He averaged 18.2 fantasy points per contest which ranked 5th. Also, Carolina’s offense should be substantially better with QB Baker Mayfield under center. Of course, there’s an obvious risk with using a first-round pick on McCaffrey, but I’m willing to take the gamble that he avoids the injury bug in 2022 and returns to fantasy dominance.
STASH AND CASH
Romeo Doubs (WR) Green Bay Packers You don’t have to spend much effort to find positive reports on former Nevada standout Romeo Doubs. The fourth-round rookie has made plays every day in camp and drawn praise from QB Aaron Rodgers. Doubs has the size (6-2, 200) and speed to play anywhere and has inside/outside flexibility. His current high-stakes ADP is WR 72 at pick 154 (in the 13th round) but is literally undrafted in CBS and YAHOO formats.
That should come in hand immediately, as the Packers WR group has the second-most vacated targets available in 2022. The summer accolades Doubs has received have caused his ADP to rise several rounds but he is still a player that I want to stash and cash in the back-end of all of my drafts this summer.
