Week 11 Weekend Roundup – Eddie Rosario Walk-Off Explosion, Michael Wacha near no-hitter

After the first month of the season, Eddie Rosario was batting .231 with three home runs, 12 RBIs, and a .659 OPS. Hopefully, you stayed patient or were able to buy low. Rosario hit three home runs, including a walk-off two-run shot off closer Cody Allen in a 7-5 win over the Indians. Rosario has a slash line of .317/.352/.573 with 36 runs, 13 home runs, 40 RBIs, five stolen bases and a .925 OPS.

Michael Wacha took a no-hitter into the ninth inning Sunday but allowed a leadoff single to Colin Moran before departing. He went eight scoreless innings, allowing one hit, two walks and struck out eight in a 5-0 win over the Pirates. He is 7-1 with a 2.41 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 61:27 K:BB ratio in 71 innings.

Blake Snell tied an American League record by striking out the first seven batters he faced Sunday against the Mariners. He allowed two hits, walked none and struck out 12 in a no-decision.

Dee Gordon stole his major league-leading 19th base Sunday.

J.D. Martinez left Sunday night’s game with back spasms. Manager Alex Cora said he’s not concerned and expects Martinez to play Tuesday.

Justin Anderson picked up a save for the Angels Sunday after Blake Parker blew a save Saturday. Anderson got the first two outs and then walked three straight before getting a popup.

Tyler Skaggs pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits, three walks and struck out six for the win.

Scooter Gennett hit his 12th homer, and Eugenio Suarez hit his 11th for the Reds.

Matt Olson hit his fourth homer in four games Sunday. He has 12 on the season.

Marcell Ozuna is breaking out of his slump. He homered Saturday and hit a grand slam Sunday. He has five home runs and 28 RBIs.

Aaron Sanchez has been terrible most of the season but had one of his best outings Sunday. He allowed one run, two hits, walked three and struck out seven in six innings for a win. He has a 4.48 ERA.

Jon Lester ran into an ice cold Mets offense and took advantage. He threw seven scoreless innings and allowed two hits, three walks and struck out seven in a 2-0 win. He has a 2.44 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.

Steven Matz pitched seven innings and allowed five hits, two walks, two runs and struck out seven after leaving his last start with a strained middle finger after three innings.

Andrew Benintendi homered for the second straight game Sunday and doubled and scored two runs. He is batting .296 with 41 runs, nine home runs, 41 RBIs and nine steals.

George Springer homered Sunday for the second straight game. He has 13 home runs and 36 RBIs.

Giancarlo Stanton broke out of a 2-for-23 slump, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Saturday for his 12th homer.

Juan Soto received a lot of hype coming up from the minors as a 19-year old and has delivered so far. He went 3-for-5 with a homer Saturday and is batting .349 with two home runs in his first 13 games.

There has been little to speak good about when it comes to the Orioles outside of Manny Machado. He hit his 18th homer Saturday.

Sean Doolittle retired the side in order in the 14th inning to get his 14th save in a 5-3 Nationals win.

Trevor Bauer struck out 11 in 5.2 innings but took a loss, allowing seven runs – three earned – six hits and walked three. He has a 2.77 ERA.

Jeimer Candelario was moved to the leadoff spot Friday and homered Saturday, his ninth of the season. He should be owned in all leagues.

Joe Jimenez picked up his first save Saturday with Shane Greene unavailable.

One of the best late round values, especially with his position versatility, is Yangervis Solarte. He went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs, and two RBIs Saturday. He is batting .256 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Kelvin Herrera retired the side in order in a one-run game to pick up his 14th save. He has a 0.79 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, and a 19:0 K:BB ratio in 22.2 innings.

After he blew this third save Friday night, Edwin Diaz picked up saves the next two days and has 21 saves in 24 chances.

Max Muncy continues to flash power for the Dodgers and should be added in leagues. He went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs Sunday. In his last 20 games, he has seven home runs and 18 RBIs.

Brandon Belt was placed on the 10-day DL with appendicitis. He had his appendix removed Friday night.

Austin Meadows hit a game-tying homer off Bud Norris in the top of the ninth inning Saturday. Meadows has five home runs in his first 14 major league games. He had one at Triple-A before being called up.

Michael Brantley fell in drafts because of his injuries the last few seasons. He’s rewarding those that took a shot on him. He hit his 10th homer Sunday and is batting .323 with 32 runs, 38 RBIs, and two stolen bases in 48 games.

Jacob deGrom has been one of the best pitchers in baseball but gets little run support. He struck out 13 in seven scoreless innings against the Cubs. He has four wins with a 1.49 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 98:21 K:BB ratio in 72.1 innings.

Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with two homers Sunday and has 16 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Jesus Aguilar went 3-for-3 with his 10th homer Saturday.

Garrett Richards struck out nine and allowed one unearned run in seven innings Saturday.

Mark Melancon returned from the DL Sunday and struck out the side on 14 pitches.

Teoscar Hernandez fouled a ball off his foot Saturday and X-rays were negative. He didn’t play Sunday.

Marwin Gonzalez left Saturday’s game with right knee soreness and is day-to-day.

Addison Russell is expected to miss a couple of games with a sprained left middle finger.

Christian Villanueva left Sunday’s game with a left ankle contusion. He is day-to-day.

Josh Donaldson was placed on the DL with left calf tightness, and he expects to return when first eligible.

Dustin Pedroia was placed on the DL with left knee inflammation. It’s the same knee he had surgery on.

Carlos Rodon is on track to pitch for the White Sox this weekend.

C.J. Cron left Sunday’s game after being hit by a pitch in the hand and has a right forearm contusion. He is day-to-day.

Chris Archer left Saturday’s start with a groin injury and “it’s questionable” if he will make his next start.

Jeremy Hellickson left Sunday’s start after one batter with a right hamstring injury.

Todd Frazier is expected to be activated from the DL Tuesday.

Noah Syndergaard is on track to return Sunday against the Yankees.
