Fantasy Football: Week 7 Deep Sleepers – Lazard Last Man Standing

With his Week 7 deep sleepers, senior fantasy football expert Adam Ronis identifies require several emerging gems for your starting lineup!

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard

Week 7 Deep Sleepers

There are many teams with multiple players on bye in Week 7. Some big names like Christian McCaffrey, Chris Godwin, Nick Chubb and Odell Beckham are out this week. There are going to be some names that make you sick when you click submit on your lineups. Digging deep is going to be important for many teams this week, especially in deep formats. Here a few deep sleepers.

QB Daniel Jones, New York Giants

The buzz for Jones has worn off. He set the expectations higher after his first start against the Buccaneers in which he passed for 336 yards and two touchdowns and added four carries for 28 yards with two touchdowns. The schedule was more difficult the last three games against the Redskins, Vikings and Patriots and he was without many of his top weapons against the Patriots. Jones had three touchdowns and six interceptions in those games. This is the week Jones bounces back and will likely get back Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram against the Cardinals.

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell HendersonRB Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams

This play will depend on the health of Todd Gurley, who sat out last week with a quad injury and Malcolm Brown, who has an ankle injury. If one or both sit, Henderson is going to get some touches. The Rams could use the burst that he brought to the offense last week. The Falcons defense has been awful and the Rams will turn things around this week. Henderson, who played 32 percent of the snaps last week, had six carries for 39 yards and a nine-yard catch against the 49ers.

RB Chase Edmonds, Arizona Cardinals

Edmonds isn’t playing a lot, but he’s on the field enough to be considered a deep sleeper in a tough bye week. He played 35 percent of the snaps in Week 5 and 29 percent last week. Edmonds had five carries for 34 yards and caught two passes for 33 yards with a touchdown last week and eight carries for 68 yards with a score and three catches for 18 yards in Week 5. The Cardinals are a high-paced offense and with Christian Kirk possibly out for another week, Edmonds could be used more in a good matchup against the Giants.

WR Allen Lazard, Green Bay Packers

There’s always a few surprises and Lazard being one of the popular pickups in the high stakes leagues this week is one of them. The hope was Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Geronimo Allison or Jake Kumerow would help fill the void with Davante Adams out due to turf toe. Adams is unlikely to play, Allison could be out with a concussion and Valdes-Scantling didn’t practice Thursday. Having the trust of quarterback Aaron Rodgers is important and he suggested Lazard play more against the Lions. Lazard had four catches for 65 yards with a touchdown on five targets and he could see a lot of snaps against the Raiders, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to wide receivers, even with a bye last week. They have allowed eight receiving touchdowns to wide receivers in five games

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole BeasleyWR Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills

The Dolphins have been awful defensively. Any player on the Bills offense is capable of having a big game as 16.5-point favorites. Beasley has been getting the targets and this is a week where if you can pencil in 8-12 points, you take it. Beasley has at least nine points in PPR formats in four of five games and has 38 targets in five games. The Dolphins have allowed nine touchdowns to wide receivers and Beasley has a good shot to score his first touchdown of the season.

WR Devin Smith, Dallas Cowboys

It appears Amari Cooper has a minimal chance of playing and Randall Cobb could be out, too. Smith has been a healthy inactive the last two games, but if one or both of those receivers are out, Smith should be active and has good speed against a secondary that has been exploited. The Eagles have allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers, including 11 touchdowns. The Eagles could get Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills back, but Smith could get it done on one big play.

TE Darren Fells, Houston Texans

When you are digging deep for a tight end, it’s all about getting a touchdown. Fells has been playing more snaps and he’s reached double-digit points in PPR formats in three of the last five games. Fells had seven targets last week and caught six passes for 69 yards. In Week 5, he caught both of his passes for touchdowns and caught five passes for 49 yards with a touchdown in Week 3. The Colts have allowed the third most fantasy points to tight ends.
