Welcome to the 2022 NFL season! We’ve got quite a debut game as the Rams host the Bills. Our Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 1 covers all the fantasy football and DFS info you’ll need. Also, we will present our Best Bet for the game.

The inaugural game of the 2022 NFL season is sure to be a good one as the defending champion Rams host a Buffalo Bills squad that is favored to be their top challengers this season. With an opening over/under of 52.5, there should be plenty of fireworks in the first game of the season.

Here is our Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 1 with fantasy tips, DFS picks, and our best bet.

Matchup

TEAM OFFENSE PASS RUSH YDS/PLAY POINTS
Buffalo Bills 5 9 6 10 3
Los Angeles Rams 9 5 25 3 7

* above ranks are from the 2021 season

Too often we have subpar Thursday night matchups worsened by teams playing on a short week. That won’t be the case in the season opener. Both teams are prohibitive Super Bowl favorites and boasted top-1o offenses last season. Both squads also have deep and talented defenses, which will make every drive crucial.

Sean McVay, fresh off his first Lombardi Trophy, is one of the most innovative and intelligent coaches in the league. In McVay’s first five seasons at the helm, the Rams have made the playoffs four times and boast a 55-26 regular-season record. All of his teams have finished 11th or better in offense and 16th or better…

Quarterbacks

Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) – Burrow is a great real-life quarterback, but is being overdrafted in fantasy leagues. He is going to run into three issues; the offensive scheme, an improved defense, and the division he plays in. The Bengals run a slow offense and with an improved defense will look to run even more this year, and being in the AFC North he will run into bad weather and grind it out games…

2022 Fantasy Football Sleepers

Ask any fantasy football enthusiast what their favorite part of drat day is and you’ll inevitably hear “sleepers”. This year is no different and with the clock ticking, it’s time to identify the 2022 fantasy football sleepers to target.

Of course, the word sleeper itself is open to varying interpretations. As we defined in our 2022 Fulltime Fantasy staff predictions, a sleeper is a player who is being overlooked and will outperform his average draft position (ADP) in 2022.

Naturally, going ZERO-RB or starting RB heavy can greatly impact relative value. But regardless of your strategy, here are some of the 2022 fantasy football sleepers I’ll be targeting in drafts. Also, my Preseason Pro has other useful players that I’m taking a stand on.

Quarterbacks

Matt Ryan (Indianapolis Colts) – It’s not uncommon to see Matt Ryan fall outside of the top 20 quarterbacks drafted in 2022, but I think there’s a strong chance he not only rebounds but contends for QB1 numbers. Ryan’s streak of 10 consecutive seasons with 4000-plus yards ending last season- barely. But considering the sorry state of Atlanta’s skill-position players and 31st-ranked offensive line, his QB17 finish a year ago was admirable.

There are no real signs that Ryan’s overall play is descending and now he gets to play behind one of the league’s better front fives. Ryan also will have an elite running back, my favorite breakout wide receiver, and a head coach with a well-deserved reputation as a QB whisperer. Not only will Ryan exceed 4000 passing yards again, I believe he’ll be close to 30 touchdowns and contend for top-10 fantasy numbers…

The first NFL game of the 2022 season is just days away and that means fantasy football draft season is here! FullTime’s Fantasy Football Roster and Rankings Update catches you up on all the recent player movements and their impacts on 2022 fantasy football rankings.

There was a whirlwind of activity as NFL teams trimmed their rosters down to 53. Some of those trades and releases will impact our 2022 fantasy projections. After spending 10 hours tracking those cuts and adjusting our outlooks, I wanted to recap some of the fantasy-relevant outcomes.

Yesterday I kept the FullTiime Discord updated on the roster cuts. Here is a more detailed look at the fantasy impact of cut-down day.

Player Movement

Hundreds of players were released or sent to IR yesterday. Inevitably, many of those cuts impacted fantasy football teams that have already completed their drafts. Here are some of the fantasy-relevant players that were impacted this season.

Marlon Mack (RB) – The Houston Texans will surge forward with fourth-round rookie Dameon Pierce as their starter. Mack averaged a solid 4.3 yards per carry in the preseason but simply wasn’t as explosive as Pierce. Mack could wind up re-signing with the Texans and will resurface again in 2022 somewhere…

Billy Muzio’s Fantasy Football Fades 2.0

Compiling a championship fantasy football roster isn’t just about knowing what sleepers to target. Avoiding potential traps is also vital and Billy Muzio’s Fantasy Football Fades 2.0 gives FullTime Fantasy Members exclusive insight from 2021’s No. 1 draft ranker. Billy Muzio

Earlier this summer Billy wrote up his initial fade list for 2022. As the preseason has progressed, there are even more players that he plans to avoid at their current ADP.

Focusing on the all-important pass catchers, here is Billy Muzio’s Fantasy Football Fades 2.0.

Wide Receivers

Tee Higgins (Cincinnati Bengals) – Like Joe Burrow, I am out on Tee Higgins at his current cost. Higgins is selected as WR #13 and pick #26 in FFWC drafts. You are buying Higgins based on his playoff performance and will be disappointed with his 2022 output. You can insert my argument for Burrow here as everything applies, but let’s dive into Tee Higgins’s independent stats and efficiencies. Higgins finished as the WR#22 or worse in fantasy points per game in 10 of his 14 starts during the regular season. In those 14  games, he had 4 or fewer receptions in 5 games and 62 yards or less in 8 of 14.  He was WR#71 in contested catch rate at 25%, WR#77 in true catch rate at 78.7%, WR#31 in target separation, WR#40 in total route wins (#52 vs. man), and WR #36 in routes ran. Don’t get me wrong, Higgins is a good receiver, but not WR#13. Pass on Higgins in the 2nd and early 3rd rounds in your drafts…
