Baltimore Orioles
Over his last seven games, Brad Brach tossed eight shutout innings with 11 Ks and four saves. His ERA (3.68) and WHIP (1.68) still need work. On the year, Brach has one blown save in eight tries. Mychal Givens saw his 9.1 shutout inning streak end on May 22nd, when he allowed three runs and four baserunners over one inning. Zach Britton should pitch in a minor league game next week, which puts him on track to reach the majors in three weeks or so.
Chicago White Sox
Over the last week, Nate Jones took the lead in the save race in the White Sox bullpen. He converted all three saves with no runs allowed over 2.2 innings with four Ks. Jones lowed his ERA to 3.32 after pitching 4.2 shutout inning in his last five games. Bruce Rondon remains on the upward path after improving his scoreless run to 9.1 innings with 11 Ks, a win, a save, and two losses. The new upside arm in Chicago’s bullpen is Jace Fry. He’s yet to allow a major league run or hit over 8.1 innings with 12 Ks. A plus slider creates his edge while offering low 90s fastball.
Milwaukee Brewers
Corey Knebel picked up a save in his last two games while improving his shutout run to five innings with no hits and six Ks. Even with the closing job for the Brewers, Knebel will share saves with Josh Hader. Over his last 9.1 innings, Hader pitched 9.1 shutout innings with three hits, 15 Ks, a win, and two saves. On the year, Josh has 58 Ks over 29.1 innings with a 1.23 ERA and 0.58 WHIP. Jeremy Jeffressextended his shutout streak to 20.1 innings with 21 Ks and three saves.
Texas Rangers
Keone Kela has a win and three saves over his last six innings with six Ks. Kela still has risk in his ERA (4.76), but he’s yet to blow a save in his nine tries. Jake Diekman has a 2.79 ERA over his last 9.2 innings with 11 Ks. Tony Barnette may be next in line for saves in Texas after posting a 2.35 ERA over his last 7.2 innings with eight Ks.
Washington Nationals
Sean Doolittle has one blown save over ten opportunities. He saw his 10.2-inning scoreless streak end on May 19th when he allowed two runs and three baserunners over one inning. Over his last 18.2 innings, Doolittle has 1.45 ERA with two walks and 30 Ks. Brandon Kintzler moved to the 8th inning role with Ryan Madsen placed on the DL. Over his last six innings, Kintzler has a 6.00 ERA and 2.17 WHIP. Sammy Solis has a 3.00 ERA over his last nine innings with ten Ks.
