Adonai “AD” Mitchell was a Second-team All-District star WR (started career at QB) out of Ridge Point High in Missouri City, Texas who drew a ton of FBS interest before enrolling at Georgia in December 2020. Made 12 starts for the Bulldogs’ national championship squad in 2021, catching 29-of-57 targets for 426 yards and four touchdowns. Georgia repeated as champs in his sophomore season, but Mitchell missed nine games with an ankle injury. Mitchell entered the transfer portal on January 18, 2023, and joined the Texas Longhorns two days later. Earned Second-team All-Big-12 honors and led the Longhorns with 11 receiving scores (55/845/11) in 14 games at Texas.

McCarthy first starred and won a state title at Nazareth Academy before switching to IMG Academy in 2020 where he passed for 1,440 yards and compiled a 16-0 TD-to-INT ratio and won the consensus high school football national championship. Enrolled at Michigan before graduating and saw action in 11 games as a true freshman reserve. Edged out Cade McNamara for the starting role in 2022. Trey Benson (RB) Florida State

College Production

Trey Benson rushed for over 3,600 yards and scored 48 touchdowns while leading his St. Joseph Catholic (Greenville, MS) Irish to consecutive Class 3A state championships in 2018-2019. He originally enrolled at Oregon but had his initial 2020 campaign derailed by a mult-ligament knee injury suffered in December. Benson returned to action on September 28, 2001, but was limited to six carries in a reserve role for the Ducks. Following that, Benson entered the transfer protocol and enrolled at Florida State in January 2022. Played in all 13 games for the Seminoles, leading the team with 990 rushing yards and being named to the Second-team All-ACC squad. Concluded his college career repeating those honors and raking up 15 scores in 13 games.

Drake Maye was a top-50 (ESPN) national recruit out of Myers Park High School in North Carolina who originally committed to Alabama before de-committing and enrolling at North Carolina in January of 2021. Redshirted behind Sam Howell as a freshman, seeing action in just two games (10 attempts, 89 yards). Became the starter in 2022 and put up elite numbers, completing 66.2% of his passes for 4,321 yards and a 38-to-7 TD-to-INT ratio. His huge season led to Maye being named the ACC Player of the Year as well as winning the Shaun Alexander Award. He was also a semi-finalist for Davey O’Brien, Maxwell, and Walter Camp Award and was a finalist for the Manning Award. In 2023, Maye’s production dipped in 2023 in a new system and he lost a ton of talent to the NFL Draft and played behind a poor O-line. Maye still earned Second-team All-ACC accolades and ranked seventh in FBS with an 89.8 PFF passer grade.

Jonathon Brooks starred in basketball and excelled as a special teams returner and First-team All-State running back with 3,530 rushing yards and 62 touchdowns in 2020 with Hallettsville High in Texas. Stayed in the Lone Star State and red-shirted his freshman (2021) season as UT already had Bijan Robinson in the backfield. Backed up Robinson in 2022, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and scoring six touchdowns as a red-shirt sophomore. After Robinson left for the NFL, Brooks ascended to the starting role and earned Second-team All-Big-12 accolades after leading the Longhorns in rushing (1,139 yards) and scoring 11 TDs in 11 games. Brooks’s season unfortunately ended in November after tearing his ACL against TCU.

A football and basketball star at Walker High School in Walker, Louisiana, Brian Thomas Jr. made the 2021 All-American Bowl team before the game was canceled. Following that, Thomas chose LSU over Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, and other FBS powers. Thomas started nine games as a true freshman, catching 28-of-46 targets for 359 yards and a pair of scores. Only started six games as a sophomore, but snagged five TDs on an 11% target share. The 2023 arrival of Jayden Daniels resulted in big things for Thomas, who led FBS with 17 receiving touchdowns and was named to the Second-team All-SEC and Third-team AP All-American after catching 68 balls for 1,177 yards.

An extremely productive signal-caller out of Cajon High School in San Bernadino, California, Daniels was ranked as the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the nation, drawing a ton of FBS interest. Ultimately, Daniels chose Arizona State, enrolling on January 7, 2019. Daniels started 12 games that fall and posted a nifty 17-2 TD-to-INT ratio. During the 2020 COVID season, Daniels’s passing production dipped but he emerged as an elite rusher. Those trends continued in 2021. Daniels only tossed 10 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions and 2,380 yards but ran for 710 yards and six additional scores.

In March 2022, Daniels transferred to LSU and set career-high numbers in pass attempts (388), completions (266), and rushing scores (11) while guiding the Tigers to a 10-4 record and 63-7 destruction of Purdue in the 2023 Citrus Bowl. In fifth and final collegiate campaign, Daniels went nuclear. He ranked second in FBS with 40 passing TDs and led the position with a career-best 1,134 rushing yards. Daniels concluded his collegiate career with All-SEC and All-American honors and was named the AP College Football Player of the Year. He also won a ton of hardware, including the Heisman Trophy, Davy O’Brien, Walter Camp, Manning, and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards.
