Congratulations! If you are still looking for players to pick up it must mean you are still in the playoff hunt. In most leagues Week 16 is THE week, so hopefully the following players give you a chance to take home that cheddar, moolah, scratch, simoleons, Benjamins or just plain old loot.
Quarterbacks
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins
Fitzpatrick has always had strong strings of games in his career and he is suddenly hitting on all cylinders in Miami. He has put up plus scores in three of the last four weeks, but this week faces a resurgent Cincinnati defense that has only allowed four passing touchdowns over their last five games.
Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts
After starting the season very strongly, Brissett has really declined, including complete duds against Pittsburgh in Week 9 and in Week 15 against the Saints. Fortunately, Week 16 should be much more kind to him. He faces a Carolina team that outside of stopping Dwayne Haskins in Week 13, has allowed an average of 305 passing yards a game over their last four games, including seven touchdowns.

Running Backs
Mike Boone, Minnesota Vikings
Dalvin Cook started in Week 15, but didn’t last very long and probably was a big reason why some fantasy owners lost in Week 15, (he wrote bitterly). With Alexander Mattison already out with an ankle injury, it fell on Boone to step up and he did. He rushed for 56 yards on 13 carries, but he also got into the end zone twice and scored over 17 points in PPR leagues.
As of this writing they are already saying that Dalvin Cook is expected back for Week 16, but even if he starts, the question is whether or not he can finish. Boone could be a Championship Winner in Week 16.
Kerryon Johnson, Detroit Lions
To me this one is interesting. Johnson has been practicing the last couple of weeks and is eligible to play in Week 16, but do the Lions play him in a game that means nothing? I think they will want to get him some playing time before the season ends so he can go into the offseason on a positive note.
Unfortunately he will be hard to trust, not only because of it being his first game back, but also because he is facing a Broncos’ defense that has only allowed four touchdowns to RBs since Week 4. I still think I would want to play him instead of Wes Hills.
Miles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins
Patrick Laird went down in flames against the Giants and Gaskin got a little bit of a shot. He actually averaged 4.8 yards per carry, but…..oh heck, I just can’t do it. I can’t try to convince you that Gaskin will be anything more than a dart throw trying to hit a moving bullseye while blindfolded. Stay Away!
Wide Receivers
Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions
The Lions have sure taken it on the chin with injuries to their offense this year, with of course the latest being starting receiver Marvin Jones Jr.. Amendola took advantage of the Jones Jr.’s injury, producing eight receptions for 102 yards on 13 targets. He could see another high target-share against a Broncos’ defense that has allowed three 100-yard performances and seven touchdowns to receivers over the last five games.
Chris Conley, Jacksonville Jaguars
Conley didn’t do much until the very end of the game, but boy did he pack a punch. He only caught four passes for 49 yards, but two of them resulted in touchdowns. The last one being the game winner.
He did see the most targets on the team with D.J. Chark out dealing with an ankle injury. Most expected Dede Westbrook to take most of those targets but he only ended up with four.
Conley faces a Falcons defense this week that has been playing better as of late against opposing WRs. After giving up big games to receivers in Week 10 through Week 12, they have only allowed a mere one receiver to top 50 yards against them in the last three games. They held Michael Thomas to six catches for 48 yards. Beware.
Breshad Perriman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs lost Mike Evans and Jameis Winston went into the game with a badly injured throwing hand and yet he threw for 458 yards and four touchdowns. Perriman was a huge part of that. He caught five passes on six targets for 113 yards and three touchdowns and almost single-handedly saved several of my fantasy teams. Alas it was not to be. His heroics were not enough to save me.
Even coming off that great game, I am a little worried about him in Week 16 because the team also lost their other starter, Chris Godwin, and there is no word yet on whether or not he will be able to play in Week 16. I like Perriman more if Godwin can play.
Justin Watson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If Godwin can’t go, and the early indications are he may not, then I like Watson more than Perriman. Perriman should see the tougher defender, if Houston really has any of those, which should allow Watson more open space to deal with. This is a long shot, but I don’t hate the odds that it pays off. Winston won’t stop throwing until they start shoveling dirt on him.
Greg Ward Jr., Philadelphia Eagles
They got no one else. Seriously. They do have JJ Arcega-Whiteside who couldn’t even record a catch last Sunday. After Ward they have JJ and the janitor from the local 7-11 and boy did the janitor get robbed on a bad holding call.
By the way, Ward did catch seven passes for 61 yards and a touchdown against Washington. This week he faces a Dallas team who doesn’t know who they are from week to week, but this game will be for all the marbles in the NFC Least.
Tight Ends
Ricky Seals-Jones, Browns
After starter David Njoku was a last-minute scratch from the game, Seals-Jones took advantage of it. He only caught three passes for 29 yards on four targets, but he did score twice.
Much to his dismay, Njoku might be back in Week 16, but even if not, RSJ will be hard to trust going against the Ravens’ defense. The rub here is that RSJ has had the best game against this defense all year. In Week 4 he caught three passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans
Smith has quietly put up back-to-back weeks of double-digit points after scoring over 16 points in PPR leagues in Week 15. He had scored just over 10 in the previous week, but hard to ask more of a waiver wire TE.
He faces a Saints defense in Week 16 that has been tough against the TE most of the season, having allowed only four touchdowns to the position all year. Except that three of those touchdowns have come in the last five weeks. Smith could be an interesting play in a game that the Titans need to win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Good Luck and go win some Championships!
