Scouting NHL DFS: Sat 3/10 – Early

Saturday, March 10th – Early Slate

There is a nice 7 game early slate for DK this afternoon, while FanDuel is taking the asleep at the wheel approach and only has a 4 game 1pm slate with minimal contests to choose from.

The following games are NOT on the FanDuel early slate:  Arizona @ Colorado (Love Story off Greinke here), Washington @ San Jose (Play Rendon in Cali) and St. Louis @ LA Kings (All the Corey Seager)…..

Oh, did I mention our MLB DFS package is up and running now?  You won’t find a better steal on the market, we are discounting the regular month to month pricing off by about 40% to purchase the full season including the Optimizer right now.  Daily content, my Dongers Club article (the most entertaining and consistent article out there), projections, cheat sheets, livestreams, podcasts, bang bang bang bang bang…   Lock it up now folks, you wont regret it.

Now, on with the NHL domination….

STACK OF THE DAY

Philadelphia Flyers … Sean Couturier – Claude Girioux – Travis Konecny

Jets vs Flyers with the Jets already putting up a hard fought contest the other night after losing Scheifele to injury and now today they go into Philly against a Flyers team who is up and down often times and is poised to bounce back up right now.  Sean Couturier’s lack of a goal streak has gone too far and I love me some Teeeek with him.  Gimme the #1 Saturday afternoon play in the history of NHL DFS….  The Flyers.

OTHER STACKS

Colorado … MacKinnon – Rantanen – Jost – Barrie

Nathan MacKinnon at home and drawing the Coyotes ….  Throw in Tyson Jost as a value play and Tyson Barrie on Defense……  Sign. Me. Up.

Tampa Bay … Point – Gourde – Miller

Soooo, here’s the deal, both Tampa1 and Tampa2 are in ideal spots against the Canadiens today.  On FanDuel you’ll find that both lines have TWO centers listed on them (Johnson-Stamkos and Point-Gourde).  On DK, Johnson and Point are the centers with Gourde and Stamkos sliding over to wing.   The play is the cheaper line because they’ve got a good matchup and we like value plays in good spots.

San Jose … Pavelski-Kane-Donskoi

Caps are walking dead right now, this game doesn’t rank too high for me overall but the Sharks make a ton of sense if you want some late afternoon hammer exposure.

VALUE STACKS

Montreal Canadiens … Drouin-Galchenyk-Gallagher

Revenge game for Drouin?  Sure, but it’s also a stack against one of the weaker defenses over the past month in Tampa Bay.

Vegas Golden Knights … Haula-Perron-Hyka

Vegas is lurking today as a high upside sneaky stack (on DK).  With Boston, Tampa, Colorado, Winnipeg likely drawing a ton of attention the Golden Knights going into Buffalo could sneak under the radar, and the second line is going to be < 5% owned.

COMBO PLAYS

  1. Nathan MacKinnon & Mikko Rantanen (COL)
  2. Sean Couturier & Travis Konecny (PHI)
  3. Brayden Point & Yanni Gourde (TB)
  4. Erik Haula & David Perron (VGK)
  5. Paul Stastny & Patrik Laine (WPG) — Laine.  En Fuego.
  6. Anze Kopitar & Dustin Brown (LAK)
  7. Jonathan Drouin & Alex Galchenyuk (MTL)

FADES … Chicago, Boston

VALUE PLAYS/PUNTS

  • Jonathan Drouin (C)
  • Kevin Labanc (W)
  • Andre Burakovsky (W)

DEFENSEMAN

  1. Tyson Barrie (COL)
  2. Jeff Petry (MTL)
  3. Ivan Provorov (PHI) … Mr. Saturday Afternoon Special
  4. Victor Hedman (TB)
  5. Rasmus Ristolainen (BUF)
  6. Shea Theodore (VGK) … Now or never Shea… Now or never….

GOALIES

Jonathan Bernier (COL) … Avs at home vs Coyotes is an automatic chalk win play.  Don’t love the shot volume upside, but love the correlation with an Avs stack

Tuuka Rask (BOS) … Gonna be a ton of vomit in my mouth while rostering him, but here we are.

Petr Mrazek (PHI) … Fully expect him to give up a goal to red hot Laine, but don’t mind it.  Flyers win…

LINE LOCK OF THE DAY:    Sean Couturier – Claude Girioux – Travis Konecny – Ivan Provorov (Flyers)

POWER PLAY LOCK:   MacKinnon – Rantanen – Barrie (Colorado)

ONE OFF STUD WINGER:    Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay) … Two goals last time they played Montreal at home and I’ll take the $500 savings off Kuch.

ONE OFF VALUE WINGER:   Brendan Gallagher (Montreal)

TOP DEFENSEMAN:   Ivan Provorov (Flyers)
