Typical Short Thursday slate with bad pitching, and some bats in great spots.
PITCHING
ERod – fading Kershaw tonight, and the next guy with the talent and k upside is ERod. He’s dominated this team in 2 of his 3 starts against them this year and has allowed just a .191 average. Toronto has hit .187 with 1 home run against lefties over the past 2 weeks.Â
Vargas – value pitching sucks tonight. Miami has not hit righties well at all recently, (they just hit back to back off Matz as I write this) so Vargas immediately is in play. He made this same Team look dumb back in May, and he’s pitched OK in his last 6 starts. He’s also an ex-Marlins, cue the narrative.Â
Fillmyer – if Minnesota rolls out 1 or 2 righties today, Fillmyer is in play. He’s a righty with reverse splits, allowing a .308 average, 50.6% hard contact and 7 home runs to righties.Â
STACKSÂ
Oakland – Bundy gets hammered by lefties, especially at home to a .313 average and 8 home runs. Oakland is a hot team, In playoff contention. (Laureano – Lowrie – Olson – Chapman)Â
Seattle lefties – Despaigne gives up a .323 average to lefties, and a 44.9% hard contact. Lefties can do some damage in this lineup. Don’t forget Span though. (Cano – Seager – Span)Â
Boston –Â Mookie is out, so Benni will move in the leadoff spot which I love. Gaviglio owns an 8.10 road era, which includes a .314 average and 3 home runs given up in Fenway. Entire lineup is in play.Â
KC– Gonsalves has been hammered in his 4 starts. Lefties are hitting the ball hard at 57.1% with righties at 44.7%. Whit and Mondesi are my 2 favorite plays.Â
