Waiver Wire for Week 4
Quarterbacks
Gardner Minshew II, JAX
Minshew seems to be getting more comfortable with every passing game as the Jaguar starter. He still has a lot to learn, but the signs are encouraging, and he might be worth a backup spot.
Jacoby Brissett, IND
I like Brissett’s upside. Frank Reich has taken him along very slowly, and he’s putting him in situations to help him. I think over the coming weeks we will see Brissett start running more and throwing downfield.
Daniel Jones, NYG
What can we say about how good Jones looked against Tampa Bay on Sunday? He was simply phenomenal. He’s not going to have garbage time production every week, but there’s a lot to be excited about here, and he’s worth a pickup.
Teddy Bridgewater, NO
Teddy B is still very suspect as a quarterback. I don’t trust him at all, and I think he’s keying in on Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas way too much. I would only use him if I had no other options.
Kyle Allen, CAR
Allen had a very successful start against the Cardinals, but the question is this: is Allen that good or is the Cardinals defense that bad? My guess is a little of both. Cam Newton is already ruled out for Week 4 so if you are in desperate need for a quarterback give Allen a look.
Mason Rudolph, PIT
Rudolph did not look very good in his first start, but I think that he will get better and better as the season goes on. Sometimes with young quarterbacks, you need to be patient. He’s nothing more than a backup right now, but I’m hopeful that he will emerge as a starter at some point this season.
Running Backs
Rex Burkhead, NE
Sexy Rexy does nothing except just put up substantial numbers week in and week out. James white missed Week 3 and should steal some of Burkhead’s thunder, but still, it’s evident that Rex is part of the Patriots game plan and needs to be owned.
Darrel Williams, KC
If Damien Williams is out for an extended period, it looks like Darrell Williams is the guy to own in Kansas City. Anybody in that offense is worth a few bucks.
Wayne Gallman, NYG
Gallman should get the first chance to replace Saquon Barkley, and I’m hopeful that Gallman will be able to put up about 14 to 16 fantasy points per week. He can run a little, catch a little, and does well in short-yardage situations.
Jamaal Williams, GB
The Packers continue to give Williams more and more carries each week. And now with the short week, Williams could get even more carries because Aaron Jones is not 100%.
Chase Edmonds, ARI
Something tells me that David Johnson doesn’t look right. He couldn’t even have a good game against the Panthers who have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. If I were sneaky, I would stash chase Edmonds right about now.
Ty Johnson, DET
The Lions cut CJ Anderson last week, so right now Ty Johnson is the backup to Kerryon Johnson. I think he needs to be owned, especially as a handcuff for Kerryon owners.
Alexander Mattison, MIN
Mattison has looked excellent in his limited play thus far. We know that the Vikings want to run the football and if Cook should get injured, Mattison is the next man up and will be very valuable.
Wide Receivers
Golden Tate, NYG
Don’t look now but Tate is about two weeks away from returning to the New York Giants. If you liked how good Daniel Jones looked on Sunday, he might look even better when Tate is in the lineup. Pick him up now before the rest of your league does next week.
Diontae Johnson, PIT
You all know how big a fan I am of Diontae Johnson. I told you to get him in the last couple of weeks, and now he’s been made the new starter for the Steelers. I don’t know if you can pick him up in your leagues, but if you can, you need to get him now.
Preston Williams, MIA
Williams is the only Miami Dolphins player that I want to own. I still don’t think he has huge upside considering the Dolphins suck, but if you’re in desperate need for a receiver with bye weeks coming up you might want to look at Williams.
Dante Pettis, SF
He’s gotten off to a plodding start, but there’s a good chance that somebody may have cut him in your league so I think I would pick him up and stash him just in case.
Taylor Gabriel, ATL
I don’t love Taylor Gabriel, but anytime somebody scored three touchdowns on Monday Night Football he must have our attention.
Rashard Higgins, CLE
I think Higgins is an under the radar pick up this week. Baker Mayfield likes throwing him the football, and with David Njoku out for an extended period I think Higgins benefits when he finally comes back.
Kenny Stills, HOU
Stills is one injury away from being a starter for the Texans. If I owned DeAndre Hopkins or Will Fuller, I would make sure I got Stills now just in case of injury.
Tight Ends
Will Dissly, SEA
Dissly performed well yet again in Week three scoring a touchdown against the Saints. In Week 4, he gets the Cardinals who are the worst team in the league against tight ends. If he’s out there on the waiver wire, you have to pick him up.
Dawson Knox, BUF
Knox is a former quarterback turned tight end who has surprising athleticism and is being given a real chance by the Bills. I don’t like his matchup next week against the Patriots but moving forward he might be an exciting player and they might use him in a lot of different ways.
Demetrius Harris, CLE
Harris is a big-bodied tight end who excels in red-zone situations. If you’re desperate for a tight end in a standard league, you might want to pick him up.
Darren Fells, HOU
Fells had six targets this past week for the Texans. I’m not sure he’s going to do that every week, but if you’re desperate for a tight end, he might be worth a look.
