Fantasy Baseball: Week 4 Weekend Roundup

Sean Manaea has been one of the best values among pitchers, and he added to it with a strong performance Sunday. He pitched seven innings, allowed two hits, one run, walked two and struck out four in a 2-1 win over the Mariners. In four starts, he has a 1.63 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and has thrown 27.2 innings in four starts. Blake Treinen saved the game, getting four outs, his third of the season.

Bartolo Colon and Justin Verlander had a great battle Sunday night. Colon took a perfect game into the eighth inning and allowed a leadoff walk to Carlos Correa and then a double to Josh Reddick. Colon went 7.2 innings and allowed one hit, one run, one walk and struck out seven, while Verlander went eight innings and allowed one hit, one run, one walk and struck out 11 and has a 1.35 ERA.

Clayton Kershaw allowed one run in seven innings and struck out 12 in a win over the Diamondbacks. He allowed two hits, no walks and a solo homer to Paul Goldschmidt. He has a 1.73 ERA and 0.88 WHIP.

Noah Syndergaard struck out nine straight and took a no-decision against the Brewers. He allowed one unearned run, two hits, one walk and struck out 11.

One of the most undervalued players in drafts was Jed Lowrie. He went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 2-1 win over the Mariners Sunday. He is batting .348 with four home runs and 14 RBIs.

Joey Lucchesi had another strong start for the Padres. He went six innings and allowed five hits, no walks, one run and struck out nine in a win over the Giants. He is 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 25:4 K:BB ratio in 21.1 innings. He should be owned in most leagues.

Christian Villanueva has been one of the biggest surprises. He homered for the second straight game Sunday. He is batting .296 with five home runs.

Carlos Martinez struck out 11 in seven scoreless innings and walked four in a win. He has a 1.75 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 30:14 K:BB ratio in 25.2 innings.

Starling Marte went 5-for-5 with four runs and a home run Sunday.

Dylan Bundy allowed one earned run in 5.2 innings, allowed seven hits, walked two and stuck out six in a loss to the Red Sox. He has a 1.40 ERA.

Wade Davis has acclimated to Colorado well. He picked up his seventh save Sunday.

Bryce Harper homered on Friday and Sunday. He has seven home runs and a .479 on-base percentage.

Ian Desmond hit the go-ahead homer off Sean Doolittle for the Rockies Sunday, and he has four homers.

Justin Bour hit a pinch-hit homer Sunday, and it was his fourth home run of the week.

Eric Thames left Sunday’s game early and is day-to-day with a mild left adductor strain.

Taijuan Walker left Saturday’s game after two innings and was placed on the 10-day DL with forearm tightness.

Dodgers third baseman Logan Forsythe left Saturday’s game with shoulder discomfort and was placed on the DL.

After not allowing a run in his first two starts, Jake Junis had a difficult matchup against the Angels, and he wasn’t as good. He went 4.2 innings and allowed four runs, seven hits, one walk and struck out seven.

Chase Anderson was in control against the Mets Saturday, going 6.1 innings and allowed one run, two hits, walked two and struck out five. He has a 2.82 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.

Jameson Taillon continued his strong start, throwing six scoreless innings against the Marlins. He allowed four hits, walked three and struck out two. He has allowed two runs in 20.1 innings.

Ryan Braun left Saturday’s game with back tightness and was able to pinch hit Sunday.

Jose Martinez had an X-ray on his injured left wrist, and there was no structural damage.

Chris Archer’s struggles continued as he allowed seven runs on eight hits in four innings against the Phillies. He has a 7.84 ERA and 1.68 WHIP.

Rookie Ronald Guzman hit his first homer Saturday and hit an infield single to win it for the Rangers in 10 innings.  Alex Claudio got two outs to pick up a save for the Rangers Saturday in the 10th inning. Closer Keone Kela pitched the ninth and got the win and also got a win on Sunday.

Yuli Gurriel was activated from the DL Friday and homered Saturday.

Charlie Morton has picked up where he left off in the postseason. He pitched six innings and allowed two runs, six hits and struck out 12 in a no-decision.

Jose Quintana is off to a terrible start for the Cubs. He allowed seven runs, seven hits, and four walks in 2.1 innings. He has an 8.16 ERA after three starts.

Ozzie Albies went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and had five home runs and 11 RBIs.

Brewers catcher Manny Pina hasn’t played since hurting his right calf Tuesday, and he expects to return early in the week.

Padres outfielder Wil Myers said he could be back as early as the weekend.

Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields started swinging a bat and thinks he can begin a rehab assignment this week.

Mike Zunino will begin a rehab assignment Monday.

Christian Yelich wasn’t activated from the DL Sunday when first eligible. He took 70 swings in the batting cage Saturday, but the Brewers want him closer to 100 percent.

Nelson Cruz returned from the DL Saturday.

Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop had a Grade 1 oblique strain and was placed on the DL.

Charlie Blackmon missed four games with quad tightness and homered in his return Saturday against Max Scherzer. He homered Sunday against Stephen Strasburg.

Max Scherzer allowed a walk and a two-run homer in the first inning and then retired 20 straight. He went seven innings and struck out 11.

Mookie Betts left Saturday’s game with a bruised left foot and is day-to-day.

Nolan Arenado began serving his five-game suspension Saturday.

Kevin Kiermaier will have an MRI Monday on his right thumb. It sounds like he’s going to miss a decent amount of time.

Bud Norris picked up a save on Friday and despite allowing a run on Sunday got another save. The Cardinals are easing Greg Holland into the role since Holland signed with the team right at the start of the season and only pitched in two minor league games.

Rhys Hoskins was drafted for his elite power and has been running, picking up his third steal Sunday.

J.T. Realmuto is expected to be activated from the DL this week.

Jeremy Hellickson will make his Nationals debut Monday in place of A.J. Cole.

Drew Pomeranz will come off the DL and start for the Red Sox Friday.

Mike Zunino will begin a rehab assignment Monday and is expected to need three games.

Johnny Cueto will return from the DL and start Tuesday.

Jeff Samardzija didn’t pitch well in his rehab start and is expected to make one more.

The Patriots’ Day game between the Red Sox and Orioles Monday has been postponed due to weather.

The Twins and White Sox had three games postponed due to snow over the weekend and were one of six on Sunday.
