With all the marbles on the line, here are some starts and sits for Week 16 of the fantasy football season. Always go with your gut. For the most part, dance with who brung ya, but also don’t shy away from new blood to help get your team to the finish line. My advice is to treat Week 16 like every other week. Don’t overthink it. Enjoy the ride and best of luck this weekend.
Start ‘Em
QB Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears
Trubisky could surprise with an impressive stat line on Sunday Night Football. I anticipate this game having more offense than the Las Vegas current total of 44 points. While the Chiefs are improving on defense, they still can be had, especially in the passing game. Plus, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid is most likely seeking a high-scoring affair.
QB Phillip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers
Although Rivers’ skills are clearly declining, expect the competitive veteran to put up nice stats against the Raiders at home. Only the Arizona Cardinals have allowed more points to opposing quarterbacks than the Raiders this season.
QB Dak Prescott. Dallas Cowboys
With much of the media putting emphasis on Prescott’s injury concerns, some fantasy owners are buying into it. Given the pressure and scrutiny the Cowboys’ signal caller faces, you better believe he’ll be ready to play. Eagles vs. Cowboys could be one of the best fantasy games to have exposure to in Week 16.

RBs David Montgomery & Tarik Cohen, Chicago Bears
Odds are you most likely used a high draft selection on one of these two running backs. Coming into the year, most fans expected the Bears’ offense to utilize both RBs in creative fashions. While both players have somewhat underperformed, I’d use either as my flex versus the Chiefs if you believe in the data. The Chiefs have allowed the sixth-most points to opposing running backs this fantasy season.
RB Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns
Hunt for the most part sold his teammates out for lack of effort in Week 15 against the Cardinals. Hunt’s amazing streak of double-digit fantasy points in every game since returning from suspension is still alive. No reason to think it will not continue in Week 16.
RB Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles
If you’re struggling with a flex or RB2, consider Scott in Week 16 against Dallas. Scott’s ability in the passing game makes him a consistent option. He has caught 13-of-13 targets over the previous two weeks. With the Eagles’ emphasis on passing to RBs, Scott continues to be an underrated option.
WR Darius Slayton, New York Giants
Slayton continues to produce no matter who’s playing QB for the Giants. The underrated rookie WR has an impressive five-game streak with double-digit fantasy points. Don’t forget about Slayton during next year’s drafts.
WR Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns
Not sure about you, but I’m playing OBJ this weekend because I used a high pick on him and I am not going to bench my studs in Week 16. You can argue it’s risky against Baltimore, but you can also argue that Jamison Crowder carved the Ravens’ secondary a week ago.
WR Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
Big Mike Williams has been another disappointment at the wide receiver position, considering where he was selected in drafts. That being said, he gets the leaky Raiders’ secondary that will have difficulty matching up against the bigger and stronger Williams.
TE Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams
This is a case of do you risk it one more week with the return of Gerald Everett? If you’ve been watching Rams games over the last three weeks, you know that their emphasis on the tight end cannot be ignored. I’m rolling the dice on Higbee for sure! After three straight 100-plus yard outings, you have to take a shot on the up-and-coming tight end.
TE Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
If you peep Goedert’s involvement and target shares over the last few weeks, it makes sense to insert Goedert as your TE versus the Cowboys. The Eagles were using both Goedert and Ertz downfield to clear out running lanes and open up the field for the short passing game. Goedert is capable of a few big plays against a Cowboys defense that is susceptible to opposing tight ends.
Sit ‘Em
QBs Tom Brady & Josh Allen
If you believe in data, then you should bench both of these talented QBs according to the numbers. With 15 weeks of data, the Patriots and Bills rank No. 1 and No. 2 at defending opposing quarterbacks in fantasy football. The Patriots have allowed a stingy 9.26 fantasy points per game while the Bills allow an impressive average of 12.38 fantasy points per game to QBs. According to all the data, this game should be low scoring.
RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans
This is not a direct sit, this is a reminder to make sure Henry is good to go against the Saints. Henry showed true grit last week, battling through a nagging hamstring injury. Henry’s 86 yards last week were hard earned, and if you watched closely, he was in pain but a warrior. Did you know the Saints are the fourth-best overall team against defending NFL RBs? This won’t be one of Henry’s finest games of the season.
RB Jamaal Williams, Green Bay Packers
Williams has been taking a back seat to fellow RB Aaron Jones over the last two weeks. Williams has a mere 15 carries and two targets over the last two games. In Week 16, he faces a Viking defense that is top 10 at defending opposing RBs. Let Williams ride the pine in the finals.
WR Julian Edelman, New England Patriots
There has been a lot of news this week debating the health of Tom Brady’s go-to veteran wide receiver. We’ve heard everything from he’s nowhere close to being healthy all the way to he’ll be good to go Saturday night. The Pats are smart and wont push Edelman too much, as their eye is on the bigger prize. Play Edelman with caution and make sure to follow all the injury news.
TE Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts
You’ll find the veteran TE ranked high this week against the Carolina Panthers. With the return of T.Y. Hilton, improved play from Zach Pascal, coupled with the overall marginal play of Jacoby Brissett, I’m looking for different options rather than Doyle on a championship weekend. The Panthers rank sixth overall at defending the TE position. There are plenty of tight ends with who can provide value this weekend.
