Week 14 Thursday Night Preview
Quarterbacks
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott has exceeded expectations all season long, but this seems to be a poor spot for him to have a huge night. Las Vegas has this game at a 43 which means that there won’t be many points on the board on Thursday. My biggest fear is that the points the Cowboys do score will come on the ground and not through the air. Start Dak if you must but I think a night of 240 yards and 1-2 TDs is about right for him tonight.
Mitch Trubisky, Chicago Bears
Trubisky has played better in recent weeks, but I am not sure that the success that he had against the Giants and Lions defenses compares favorably to the Cowboys. Trubisky is way too risky of a play for me and I will look elsewhere unless I have no other choices.
Running Backs
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
The Bears run defense has been solid for the most part this season, so I see Zeke having a good game, but not a standout one. That said, he is a must-start in any format and he is clearly capable of getting 100+ yards and a TD.
David Montgomery, Chicago Bears
Montgomery has been arguably the most frustrating Fantasy player this season. Whenever you think he will have a good game, he stinks and when you think he will stink, he plays well. I would consider starting Montgomery only in standard leagues as he is clearly the Bears goal line back. In PPR, I am not sure he can be trusted.
Tarik Cohen, Chicago Bears
Cohen has less than 500 yards from scrimmage in 2019, a far cry from his exceptional 2018 season. And while he is always capable of making a big play, the Bears don’t seem to use him consistently enough to make him a viable Fantasy target. Dallas’ linebackers do a decent job of covering pass catching running backs, so I would only use him if you have no better options.
Wide Receivers
Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys
The Bears have been very stingy to opposing receivers all season long and this week will be no exception. To make matters worse, Cooper has struggled mightily on the road, making him a borderline WR2 this week. I won’t tell you to bench Cooper as he is a stud who always needs to be started, but I think you need to temper your expectations from him.
Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys
If Cooper continues to struggle on the road, look for Prescott to find Gallup more than usual. Gallup has been a bright spot for the Cowboys for much of the season and he would be a WR1 for most other teams in the league. I can see Gallup going 6 for 60 in this game but with the possibility of more if he can find the end zone.
Randall Cobb, Dallas Cowboys
I usually like to start Cobb against teams who struggle covering slot receivers. The Bears have been pretty solid in that regard this season, so I would pass on using him unless you lack better options.
Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
Robinson should be in a good spot to succeed as he gets the lion’s share of the team’s passing targets. He should see a ton of Byron Jones in coverage, but that is not necessarily a bad thing as Jones has struggled at time this season. Look for Robinson to go 8 for 80 with possibly more.
Anthony Miller, Chicago Bears
On Thanksgiving Day Cole Beasley killed the Cowboys defense from the slot, so there is hope that Miller can pick up from where he left off last week. Miller has steadily become Trubisky’s favorite target and he is a very good under the radar play on Thursday night. His floor is 4 catches for 50 yards, but I can see 8 catches for 90 if he can get off to a good start.
Javon Wims, Chicago Bears
With Gabriel out for another week with a concussion, look for Wims to get the start once again. He is unusable in seasonal formats, but I would use him in exotic combinations in DFS slates.
Tight Ends
Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Chicago is in the middle of the pack when it comes to covering opposing tight ends, so it is possible that Witten can make a few plays. Witten has had 33 targets in the last five games, so expect 10-12 fantasy points in this contest if you use him.
Jesper Horsted, Chicago Bears
Horsted scored last week, but he is little more than a deep dive play in DFS showdown slates.
