Fantasy Football Draft Kit: Sony Michel Rookie Profile
I love watching college football on Saturdays. Not only do I get to root for some of my favorite teams, but it also gives me an advantage when it comes to Fantasy Football. I find that often I can scout a player in college and have a pretty good idea of how he will fit in at the professional level. It is without question that Patriots rookie RB Sony Michel was an outstanding college RB while at the University of Georgia. I believe that Michel will take these same skills with him to the NFL and be the leader of the Patriots running back corps in 2018.

I am sure you will be impressed with what you see. Michel has a one-cut burst that will lend itself beautifully to the pro level. He is not only fast, but he has game-changing, breakaway speed which is something that the Patriots offense has always lacked. Additionally, he is an adept pass catcher who can catch the ball out of the backfield.
I fully expect that some Fantasy owners will have their doubts about Michel, specifically because of the Patriots overcrowded and talented backfield. And while I agree that the Patriots have a lot of options, none are better than Michel. To wit:
Rex Burkhead — Decent runner who never had more than 13 carries in any game in 2016.
James White — Third down-type back who only had double-digit carries in one game last season.
Jeremy Hill — Fringe player who looks like he has lost a step in the past two seasons.
So, while it’s true that the Patriots have a lot of running back talent, Michel is in a class by himself when it comes to running the football. I see him as the ideal first and second down running back, with White and Burkhead both coming in on third downs and manning the slot with Julian Edelman on suspension.
With Tom Brady at QB and Rob Gronkowski at TE, you know the Patriots offense is going to score points. Michel will be the rushing leader of this prolific offense in 2018 and could even have double-digit rushing TDs if he proves himself in training camp.
Projections for Sony Michel: 222 carries for 1021 yards (8 TDs) / 16 receptions for 176 yards (2 TDs)
