Former Browns RB Duke Johnson Traded to Houston Texans

Duke Johnson has finally been traded after requesting to be moved earlier this season. The Browns traded the running back to the Texans on Thursday for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft. It can becomes a third round pick if Johnson plays in ten games.

The Texans had a need for a running back after cutting D’Onta Foreman and Johnson can fill the void. Two years ago, Johnson caught 74 passes and scored seven total touchdowns. Johnson was involved in the offense as much last year. He had 40 carries for 201 yards and 47 catches for 429 yards with three touchdowns last season.

Houston Texans Offense Team Outlook

Over the last three-quarters of the season, Houston became more of ball controlled offense to help take away from their significant weakness protecting the QB in the passing game. The Texans ran the ball 48.3 percent of the time, which was helped by the success on the ground by Deshaun Watson (99/551/5). If the pass blocking comes together in 2019, Houston will be more dynamic in the passing game.Continue reading ...

Dr. Roto Podcast – Wednesday, August 1

Outlook: The Texans had a plethora of injuries last season to big names like J.J. Watt, Deshaun Watson, and D’Onta Foreman which cost them dearly. However, If the Texans can stay healthy they have a real chance to compete for the playoffs. With the Jaguars and Titans being two of the top teams in the AFC and in the same division as the Texans, there is little margin for error.

2018 Houston Texans: Potential Boom or Bust Candidates

Quarterbacks

QB Deshaun Watson – Fantasy owners were taken on a great ride by Watson from Week 3 to Week 7 last year. Over a five-game stretch, Deshaun passed for 1,472 yards with 18 TDs and seven Ints while gaining another 186 yards on the ground with another TD. His success over this span projected over 16 games would have led to 5,305 combined yards with 61 TDs. When looking at his passing stats, Watson never attempted over 34 passes in any game. He made plenty of big plays while taking 19 sacks on the year over 204 pass attempts. His offensive line is a huge problem, and defenses will have a whole offseason to come up with a scheme to slow him down.Continue reading ...

2018 Fantasy Football: Houston Texans Team Outlook

Houston Texans

Over four seasons with Bill O’Brien as the head coach, the Texans have a 31-33 record with two playoff berths. Houston appeared to be on the rise in 2017 when Deshaun Watson took over at QB, but the injuries to the defense and Watson were too much to overcome to have a winning season.

From Week 3 to Week 8 over five games, the Texans averaged 39 points per game. Over the last nine games without Watson at QB, Houston scored over 16 points in just one other game. They finished 17th in points scored (338), which was a net gain of 59 points over 2016 (279). Their offense ranked 20th on offensive yards gained.… Continue reading ...
