Buy Now: Kenny Stills can be a Top 25 WR

Senior Fantasy Expert Adam Ronis is buying up shares of Dolphins WR Kenny Stills thanks to what will be an expanded opportunity for his talents in 2018

Over the last three seasons, the wide receiver with the most touchdowns for the Miami Dolphins isn’t who you think. Most would say Jarvis Landry since he absorbed so many targets. It’s actually Kenny Stills, who has scored 18 touchdowns compared to 17 for Landry.

With Landry gone to Cleveland, a lot of targets have opened up. Landry had 458 targets the last three seasons, including 161 last season. The Dolphins have almost 50 percent (290) of the targets from last season no longer on the roster.

Stills is in a prime spot to benefit, and it won’t cost much in drafts with his early ADP in the double-digit rounds. The Dolphins project as one of the worst teams and will play from behind often, setting them up to pass often.

Stills was second on the team with 105 targets last season. DeVante Parker averaged 7.4 per game, while Stills had 6.6. He had 58 catches for 847 yards for 14.6 yards per catch and six touchdowns last season, and that was with Jay Cutler and Matt Moore at quarterback.

Ryan Tannehill is back, and Stills was more efficient with Tannehill two years ago. In 2016, he had 81 targets and caught 42 passes for 726 yards for 17.3 yards per catch and nine touchdowns.

Stills finished as the WR28 in PPR formats last season. It’s difficult to envision the former Oklahoma Sooners receiver not getting more than 105 targets from last season with Landry gone. There are no threats in the offense to take away from him as an outside receiver. Even if Parker finally has a breakout that people have hoped for the last few seasons, there’s plenty of targets for Stills to produce.

Albert Wilson and Danny Amendola were added to the roster, but they are going to split slot duties. Stills played 91 percent of the snaps last season and the only WR2 on the same team that saw more targets than Stills was Marvin Jones, who had 107 targets compared to 120 for Golden Tate.

Stills doesn’t have a great catch percentage at 58 percent last season. Part of it was quarterback play, and the other was he tends to run deep routes, which are lower percentage opportunities. The return of Tannehill and an increase in looks will help.

Stills has easily outperformed his ADP the last two seasons, and he will do it again. Stills is shaping up as one of the best value wide receivers. Don’t be surprised to see him finish as a Top 25 WR in 2018.
