Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks struggled to win games over the last couple of weeks leading to Brad Boxberger pitching only two shutout innings with two Ks and one save since May 8th. Boxberger is 12-for-13 in save conversions with a 2.00 ERA and 24 Ks over 18 innings. Archie Bradley started to take on water over his last three games (four runs, five baserunners, and two home runs over three innings), which led to a win, a loss, and a blown save. Yoshihisa Hirano extended his shutout streak to seven innings with two hits and seven Ks.
Atlanta Braves
Arodys Vizcaino pitched two perfect innings over the last week with two Ks and two saves. He’s been successful in nine of his 11 save chances with strength in his ERA (2.49) and WHIP (1.11). A.J. Minter lost his way over his 12 games (4.66 ERA and 2.17 WHIP), but he did pick three wins and a save. Dan Winkler improved his scoreless run to 12.1 innings with three hits and 18 Ks.
Baltimore Orioles
Over his last seven games, Brad Brach tossed eight shutout innings with 11 Ks and four saves. His ERA (3.68) and WHIP (1.68) still need work. On the year, Brach has one blown save in eight tries. Mychal Givens saw his 9.1 shutout inning streak end on May 22nd, when he allowed three runs and four baserunners over one inning. Zach Britton should pitch in a minor league game next week, which puts him on track to reach the majors in three weeks or so.
Boston Red Sox
Craig Kimbrel has a save in five straight games with one run allowed over five innings with five Ks. Kimbrel has a 2.21 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 20.1 innings while converting 14 of his 16 save opportunities. Joe Kelly gave up one run over his last 21.1 innings with 24 Ks, two wins, and one save. Matt Barnes tossed five shutout innings with seven Ks over the last two weeks.
Chicago Cubs
Brandon Morrow didn’t allow a run or hit over his last four innings with five Ks and three saves. On the year, Morrow has one failed save in 11 chances. Carl Edwards didn’t allow a run over his last two innings with three Ks, which came after struggling in his previous three games (seven runs and nine baserunners over two innings). Steve Cishek pitched his best ball over his last 8.2 innings (no runs, three hits, and nine Ks) to put him in the save conversation if Morrow had an issue.
Chicago White Sox
Over the last week, Nate Jones took the lead in the save race in the White Sox bullpen. He converted all three saves with no runs allowed over 2.2 innings with four Ks. Jones lowed his ERA to 3.32 after pitching 4.2 shutout inning in his last five games. Bruce Rondon remains on the upward path after improving his scoreless run to 9.1 innings with 11 Ks, a win, a save, and two losses. The new upside arm in Chicago’s bullpen is Jace Fry. He’s yet to allow a major league run or hit over 8.1 innings with 12 Ks. A plus slider creates his edge while offering low 90s fastball.
Cincinnati Reds
Raisel Iglesias blew his second save in ten tries in his last game on May 19th when he allowed two runs, three hits, and one HR over one inning with two Ks. Iglesias pitched 9.1 shutout innings over his previous nine games with no walks, nine Ks, a win, and five saves. David Hernandez has a 1.64 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over his last 11 innings with ten Ks. Despite allowing one run and three hits over his last 9.1 innings with 12 Ks, Amir Garrett struggled with his command (eight walks). Jared Hughes hasn’t allowed a run over his last 10.2 innings with eight Ks.
Cleveland Indians
Cody Allen only has one save over the last month with a 7.88 ERA and 2.13 WHIP over eight innings. He did pitch better in his last four innings (one run, two hits, and six Ks). Allen has one blown save in six opportunities. Andrew Miller allowed four runs and nine baserunners over four innings since returning from the DL. His back flared up earlier this week, which may be the reason for his recent struggles. Oliver Drake has a 3.00 ERA and six Ks over his last six innings.
Colorado Rockies
Wade Davis is 17-for-19 in save conversions with a 2.66 ERA and 23 Ks over 20.1 innings. In his last four innings, Davis didn’t allow a run with four Ks and three saves. Over his last six innings, Adam Ottavino didn’t allow a run with one hit and ten Ks. He has a 1.04 ERA over 26 innings with 45 Ks. Bryan Shaw struggled in his last two games (five runs, six baserunners, and two home runs over two innings).
Detroit Tigers
Over his last 11 games, Shane Greene has 5.06 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 10.2 innings with 12 Ks, six saves, and a blow save. Greene has three blown saves in ten tries. Joe Jimenez looks closer-worthy over his last 5.2 innings (no runs, no walks, and ten Ks). Warwick Saupold has a 1.80 ERA over his last ten innings with five Ks.
Houston Astros
Ken Giles has a save in each of his last five games with no runs over 4.2 innings with no walks and four Ks. Giles still hasn’t a blown save with no walks and 12 Ks over 15 innings. Chris Devenski allowed a run in two of his last five games with seven baserunners over 4.1 innings. His ERA (1.53) and WHIP (0.96) remains elite. Brad Peacock extended his shutout streak to ten innings with 14 Ks.
Kansas City Royals
Over his last eight games, Kelvin Herrera has a 2.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with five Ks, one win, one loss, four saves, and one blown save. Herrera is 9-for-10 in save conversions with no walks allowed over 17.2 innings. Tim Hill pitched 3.1 shutout innings with three Ks in his last six games. Brad Keller improved his shutout run to 9.2 innings with four hits and six Ks.

Los Angeles Angels
The Angels finally worked their way back to Blake Parker for a save chance on May 20th, which was a successful outing. Over his last 9.2 innings, Parker didn’t give up a run with six hits, two walks, and 15 Ks to lower his ERA to 2.78. Blake hasn’t blown a save in two chances in 2018. Jim Johnson has 7.11 ERA and 2.21 WHIP over his last 6.1 innings with five Ks. Justin Anderson pitched 2.2 shutout innings over his last three games with three Ks. Cam Bedrosian has a 5.40 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over 6.2 innings in May with three Ks and two blown saves.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Kenley Jansen ship looks back in form after tossing nine shutout innings with no walks, seven Ks, and five saves in his last eight games. Jansen lowered his ERA to 3.05 while converting nine of 11 saves on the year. Josh Fields regained his value over his last seven games (no runs over 7.1 innings with four Ks). Pedro Baez pitched better in May (2.61 ERA with 12 Ks over 10.1 innings) while still offering risk in his WHIP (1.55).
Miami Marlins
Brad Ziegler still hasn’t blown a save in eight tries, but he did bleed away a six-run lead on May 20th when Ziegler allowed four runs and four baserunners over two-thirds of an inning. Over his last 16.1 innings, Brad has a 6.61 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. Kyle Barraclough looked closer-worthy over his last seven innings with one hit and three Ks. Barraclough has strength in ERA (1.59) and WHIP (0.97) over 22.2 innings with 26 Ks. More disaster lies in the arm of Drew Steckenrider after blowing up in his last five games (11 runs, 17 baserunners, and five Ks over 3.2 innings).
Milwaukee Brewers
Corey Knebel picked up a save in his last two games while improving his shutout run to five innings with no hits and six Ks. Even with the closing job for the Brewers, Knebel will share saves with Josh Hader. Over his last 9.1 innings, Hader pitched 9.1 shutout innings with three hits, 15 Ks, a win, and two saves. On the year, Josh has 58 Ks over 29.1 innings with a 1.23 ERA and 0.58 WHIP. Jeremy Jeffress extended his shutout streak to 20.1 innings with 21 Ks and three saves.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins have to be happy with Fernando Rodney over his last ten games (no runs, two hits, and seven Ks over ten innings) with eight successful saves. On the year, Rodney has three failed saves in 13 opportunities. Over his last seven games, Addison Reed has a 1.17 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with eight Ks in 7.2 innings. Trevor Hildenberger pitched poorly over his last five games (three runs, eight baserunners, and two home runs over six innings with six Ks).
New York Mets
Over his last six games, Jeurys Familia has a win and four saves. He allowed one run in his last eight innings with nine Ks. Familia is 13-for-16 in save conversions with an edge in his ERA (1.64) and WHIP (0.95). A.J. Ramos struggled over his last seven innings (9.00 ERA and 1.86 WHIP). Robert Gsellman picked up a save over the last week while improving his shutout streak to 9.2 innings with seven Ks. Seth Lugo has been electric over his last 14 shutout innings with 15 Ks
New York Yankees
Aroldis Chapman has 0.69 ERA over his last 13 innings with 25 Ks, eight saves, and one blown saves. Chapman has one blown save in ten tries. Dellin Betances didn’t allow a run over his last three innings with four Ks. David Robertson pitched poorly over his last six innings (five runs and ten baserunners with six Ks).
Oakland A’s
Blake Treinen has two failed saves in 12 opportunities with an edge in ERA (1.14) and WHIP (1.14). He allowed one run over his last 11.2 innings with 16 Ks and seven saves. Lou Trivino improved his scoreless streak to 10.1 innings with seven walks and eight Ks. Yusmeiro Petit has 1.86 ERA over his last 9.2 innings with three Ks.
Philadelphia Phillies
After blowing a save on May 11th (three runs, three hits, and two home runs over one inning), Hector Neris could be pitching for his closing job. Over his last three games, Neris pitched 2.1 shutout innings with two Ks and a save. He has three blown saves in 12 chances in 2018. Seranthony Dominguez looks ready to steal the 9th inning after tossing 7.2 shutout innings to start his major league career with no walks, eight Ks, and one save. His average fastball (97.9) is elite. Edubray Ramos has 0.90 ERA over his last ten innings with 11 Ks and one save.
Pittsburgh Pirates
Felipe Vazquez blew up in his last game when he allowed three runs and four baserunners without recording an out in a blown save situation. Before that game, Vazquez pitched 10.1 shutout innings with ten Ks, two wins, and four saves. He has one failed save in ten opportunities. Michael Feliz has a 0.75 ERA over his last 12 innings with 15 Ks. Richard Rodriguez has a closing resume over his last 13.2 innings (two runs, two walks, and 22 Ks).
San Diego Padres
Brad Hand is 14-for-16 in save conversions with 37 Ks and a 2.22 ERA over 24.1 innings. Hand has a 0.84 ERA over his last 10.2 innings with 16 Ks. Kirby Yates allowed one run over his last 11.1 innings with 15 Ks. Craig Stammen extended his shutout run to 8.2 innings with nine Ks.
San Francisco Giants
Over his last five innings, Hunter Strickland didn’t allow a run with one walk, six Ks, and one save. Strickland has two blown saves in 11 chances with strength in his ERA (2.18) and WHIP (0.92). The Giants hopes to have Mark Melancon back in early June after making his first rehab appearance on May 21st (no runs over one inning). I don’t expect him to get the closing job unless he pitches a month’s worth of good innings. Tony Watson hasn’t allowed a run over his last four innings with five Ks.
Seattle Mariners
Edwin Diaz picked two saves over the last week after tossing three shutout innings with four Ks. Diaz is 16-for-18 save chances with 42 Ks in 24.1 innings. James Pazos allowed one run over his last 16.1 innings with no walks and 15 Ks. Dan Altavilla didn’t allow a run over his last 4.1 innings with three Ks.
St. Louis Cardinals
The closing job in St. Louis remains in the hands of Bud Norris. He has nine successful saves with no runs over his last 5.2 innings with nine Ks and two saves. Norris has 31 Ks over 22.1 innings with a 2.01 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. Greg Holland killed off his last supporters over the last week when he allowed six runs and 11 baserunners over one inning. Over his last 10.1 innings, Jordan Hicks has a 4.35 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with eight walks and three Ks. His average fastball is 99.5 mph, but Jordan needs to throw more strikes before earning saves. Sam Tuivailala pitched well over his last four innings (no runs with one walk and six Ks).
Tampa Bay Rays
Alex Colome didn’t allow a run over his last five innings with no walks, five Ks, and four saves. He has a 1.32 ERA over his last 13.2 innings with 16 Ks and six saves. Jose Alvarado struggled in his last two games (three runs and six baserunners over three innings with two Ks. Sergio Romo looked sharp over his last 6.2 shutout innings with eight Ks.
Texas Rangers
Keone Kela has a win and three saves over his last six innings with six Ks. Kela still has risk in his ERA (4.76), but he’s yet to blow a save in his nine tries. Jake Diekman has a 2.79 ERA over his last 9.2 innings with 11 Ks. Tony Barnette may be next in line for saves in Texas after posting a 2.35 ERA over his last 7.2 innings with eight Ks.
Toronto Blue Jays
Over the last week, Tyler Clippard allowed two runs, five baserunners, and four Ks over 2.2 innings with one save and a blown save. Clippard has a 1.20 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over his last 15 innings with 19 Ks and two saves. He remains first in line for save in Toronto until the Roberto Osuna returns. Seung Hwan Oh has a 3.38 ERA over his last 10.2 innings with 11 Ks. John Axford lost his way over his last two games (five runs and five baserunners over 1.1 innings with three Ks).
Washington Nationals
Sean Doolittle has one blown save over ten opportunities. He saw his 10.2-inning scoreless streak end on May 19th when he allowed two runs and three baserunners over one inning. Over his last 18.2 innings, Doolittle has 1.45 ERA with two walks and 30 Ks. Brandon Kintzler moved to the 8th inning role with Ryan Madsen placed on the DL. Over his last six innings, Kintzler has a 6.00 ERA and 2.17 WHIP. Sammy Solis has a 3.00 ERA over his last nine innings with ten Ks.
