Dr. Roto discusses which players are relevant among the Fantasy Football landscape in tonight’s Thursday night matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. Frankie Fantasy then provides a Vegas betting twist!
Quarterbacks
Marcus Mariota
There should be no reason that any Fantasy owner in a one QB league would be starting Mariota against the tough Jaguars defense. I might argue that he is a borderline start in two QB leagues as well. Look for him to have his usual 200-ish yards passing and 1 TD.
Gardner Minshew II
With each passing game, I like more and more of what I see from Minshew. He got much more comfortable in the 4th quarter against the Texans, and I think he could have a respectable game against the Titans. That said, I would not start him unless I had no other realistic options. He should have about 220 passing yards and 1 TD in this contest.
Running Backs
Derrick Henry
If there is one player who is a must start in this game, it’s Henry. Henry ran for over 200 yard and a whopping four TDs the last time these two teams played. While I do not think that he will come remotely close to those numbers again, I do think that 100+ rushing yards and a TD is a definite possibility.
Leonard Fournette
Tennessee is going to force Minshew to beat them with the pass, so I would expect the Titans to go all in on stopping Leonard Fournette. The interesting thing about Fournette is that he’s had eight receptions on 12 targets I the first to games of the season. If this continues Thursday night, he should be good for 12-15 Fantasy points regardless of how well he runs the football.
Wide Receivers
Corey Davis
In what could be Jalen Ramsey’s last game as a Jaguar, I would expect Davis to see as much of Ramsey as the Jaguars will allow. Davis did not have a catch in Week 1 and only had three catches in Week 2, making him a very suspect start on Thursday.
A.J. Brown
Brown is simply too unreliable to start with any confidence. The Titans don’t throw enough to make three receivers viable starts.
Adam Humphries
Recently, Humphries said that he still needed to get on the same page with Mariota. This worries me, especially considering that we are in Week 3 and they obviously have no rapport.
Dede Westbrook
I think it’s fair to call Westbrook a disappointment thus far, considering that he only has six receptions on 11 targets in two games. I am torn about starting Westbrook this week, as I know he has the ability, but with a backup quarterback under center, I worry that the Jaguars will limit his passing attempts like they did against the Texans. In the end, I think I will start Westbrook, but I will keep my expectations to a minimum.
Chris Conley
Conley is the WR3 and he is best used in games where the Jaguars are playing from behind. Thursday night’s game looks to be low-scoring and one with not too many pass attempts. So, although I like the player, I am just not sure I am in love with the matchup.
D.J. Chark
Chark has been outstanding thus far, arguably becoming the Jaguars top receiver in the team’s first two games. I don’t foresee a huge night for him in this contest, but in deeper leagues he is certainly worth consideration. I think he will have about 60-70 yards receiving and 5-6 receptions.
Tight Ends
Delanie Walker
No other Titan receiving threat can be counted on other than Delanie Walker. He is Mariota’s go-to guy and he is the one player outside of Derrick Henry who can be considered a “must start” each week.
James O’Shaughnessy
Tennessee has allowed the fifth-most points to opposing tight ends thus far this season, so if you are feeling lucky you might take a flyer on O’Shaugnhessy and hope that he catches 3-4 passes.

TIAA Bank Field
If the sharp action is any indication for what we are in store for Thursday night, all fantasy owners need to temper all expectations. According to the information provided by Vegas Whispers, the sharps are heavily playing the ‘Under’. The oddsmakers opened the game with a 41-point total, but thanks to the heavy sharp steam, it now stands at 39 at most shops around town. With expected high winds in the forecast and two teams with strong defenses and offenses predicated upon the run, this game could very well struggle to see multiple touchdowns scored by either team. The winds will not only affect the passing games but could also make the kicking game an adventure. Expect high-volume work for RBs Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette. Henry has rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for 87 yards and another score earning him a PPR ranking of RB13 overall.
