MLB DFS Fastballs & Flyballs 8/1

Tonight we are looking at a 6 game slate. I have made some changes to this article and switched from teams and specific bats over to a few combos that I really like. I will be using a combination of the pitchers and hitters I have listed in the article.

PITCHERS

Gerrit Cole

The top 2 options tonight are Cole and Kershaw. I think they both do well tonight, but prefer the upside of Cole with the higher K rate. Verlander just went 7 innings and struck out 13 Indians and Cole has a higher K rate. He may not strike out 13, but can see him getting 10 Ks tonight and allowing a run or 2 off a HR.

VALUE ARMS

Asher Wojciechowski

Woj started out the year a bit off, but has pitched well over his last 2 games going 7 + in each. Kid has a 30% K rate on the year and a whiff rate of 40% or higher on his slider and curve. High K-rate of 40% to RHHs, which should be 4-5 of the Jays batters. The Jays current lineup has a 25% K-rate vs RHP. I am a fan of this kid After watching him mow through the Red Sox lineup and make them look silly and then go 7 strong innings vs the Angels. I actually like both arms from this game Trent Thornton Thornton has pitched better on the road and has a high K rate. I am good with him as well vs a weak Os offense. I can see Woj going 6-7 innings with 8 Ks and giving up a HR to Smoak.

DARK HORSE

Andrew Cashner

Cashner has not pitched well since coming over to the Red Sox, but I think he goes out and pitches well vs the Rays. I prefer him over Fried at the lower price point because Cashner usually goes 6 + innings. Also, Cashner has been good vs LHHs and the Rays best hitters are from the left side. Pham scares me a bit, but I can see Cashner pitching well enough to pay off his price +. Looking at 6 innings 2 ERs and 6 Ks.

Spots I will be targeting

Pollack/Turner/White

The Dodgers face off against Lucchesi tonight who throws mostly sinkers (52%). These 3 bats destroy the sinker(Pollack .320 ISO, Turner .290 ISO and White .281 ISO and all are over .400 wOBA). You could even add Bellinger or Muncy into this mix as both hit LHP well. This is my favorite spot on the night.

JD Martinez/Mookie Betts/Sam Travis

The Red Sox have been hitting the ball well vs LHP over the past 30 days with a .289 average, .237 ISO and 18 HRs , which is 2nd. JD is hitting the ball well as of late and Mookie is finally starting to hit lefties. Travis is cheap and hits LHP well. Warm weather in Boston tonight as well. JD my favorite of the 3.

Duvall/Inciarte

DeSclafani has pitch well most of the year and has struggled vs lefties a bit. Duvall and Inciarte have been hitting the ball well. Duvall hits better vs RHP. Going with the hot bats here.

Paul Goldschmidt/O’Neill/Martinez/Wieters

Goldschmidt is still on Fire, Martinez hits well vs LHP. O’Neill has power upside. Wieters has more power from the right side of the plate.

Machado/Renfroe

Kershaw has been good, but these 2 have massive lower vs LHP. Both with over .400 ISOs and hitting back to back. They are both under 4K.
