Fantasy Football: Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups

From Adam Ronis, here are his Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups article with player recommendations to keep your Fantasy Football teams strong!

QB Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles announced Foles would start in Week 17 against the Redskins. The Eagles need to win to have a shot at a playoff berth. Foles took advantage of a favorable matchup in Week 16 against the Texans and carved them up, throwing for 471 yards and four touchdowns. The Redskins only allowed 192 passing yards in Week 16 against an inept Titans passing attack of Marcus Mariota and Blaine Gabbert and allowed 57 passing yards against the Jaguars in Week 15, but allowed seven touchdown passes in the previous three games.

RB C.J. Anderson, Los Angeles Rams

Some people might have picked up Anderson as a desperation play in Week 16, but he’s still available in many leagues. The Rams could rest Todd Gurley in Week 17 to make sure he’s entirely healthy for the playoffs. The Rams need to win to clinch a first-round bye, but they should be able to do it against the 49ers without Gurley. Anderson had 20 carries for 167 yards with a touchdown and played 51 snaps. John Kelly played 17 snaps.

RB Darren Sproles, Philadelphia Eagles

In his third game since coming off the injured reserve, Sproles was involved the most he has been all season. He played 38 snaps and had nine carries for 32 yards and caught three of six targets for 76 yards with a touchdown. Josh Adams played 25 snaps and had 11 touches, and Wendell Smallwood played 16 snaps with five touches. Look for Sproles to be the best Fantasy option of the group in a must-win game for the Eagles.

RB Brian Hill, Atlanta Falcons

Tevin Coleman left Week 16 with a groin injury. If he’s out, Hill should see an extended look against the Buccaneers. Hill played 14 snaps and eight carries for 115 yards against the Panthers. The Buccaneers have struggled against the run lately, allowing at least 106 rushing yards to running backs in five straight games.

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers didn’t want to sit out the season, and the Packers played to win in Week 16 and should have the same approach in Week 17. Valdes-Scantling showed promise in the middle of the season and fell off the radar for several games. With Randall Cobb out, Valdes-Scantling had nine targets, the most he has seen since Week 5. He had five catches for 75 yards. He has a good matchup in Week 17 against the Lions.

WR Mohamed Sanu, Atlanta Falcons

Julio Jones has been banged up recently, and there’s a chance the team sits Jones in Week 17. Sanu could still have value if Jones plays but would get a boost if Jones sits. Sanu led the team in targets in Week 16 with eight, catching five passes for 81 yards with a touchdown. He had two carries for 29 yards and gets a good matchup against the Buccaneers.

TE Chris Herndon, New York Jets

Herndon wasn’t being targeted by Sam Darnold much with six targets in Weeks 14 and 15. Herndon was a more significant part of the offense in Week 16 with six catches for 82 yards with a touchdown on seven targets. Herndon had seven catches for 57 yards the last time he faced the Patriots in Week 12.
