When you are talking about the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule, you can never go too long with a trip to a 1.5-mile oval. This Saturday night, Kansas Speedway will host the fourth race of the year at a mile-and-a-half track.
If you have been reading my rankings this year, then you already know that I love to load up my lineups with big names whenever the series visits a 1.5-mile track, and I’ll be using the same strategy for Saturday’s KC Masterpiece 400.
Year in and year out, the top drivers from the top teams tend to deliver strong results across all the races at mile-and-a-half ovals. Granted, we only have three races to go by so far in 2018, but the top two scorers at 1.5-mile tracks are Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick. If you were picking the championship frontrunners, these same two drivers would top the list.

For season-long Fantasy NASCAR games like Fantasy Live or the Driver Group game that limit the number of times out can use each driver, maximizing the results from the top options is just as important as knowing when to utilize midrange options and sleepers. The gap between the top options and the rest of the field tends to be the widest at the mile-and-a-half tracks, so it only makes sense to use your starts from these top drivers at these tracks.
I’ll be very aggressive with my lineup construction this weekend, and I recommend that you do the same. You should be able to load up your rosters and post some big point totals.
