NFL Week 3 Roundup: Injuries, Fantasy Winners & the Week 4 Battle Plan

Achane’s season changes in an instant. Baker gets some encouraging MRI news. A quarterback trade reshapes the Giants. Here is the fantasy meaning of every completed game—and the lineup calls we are making next.

By Scott Atkins • September 28, 2026 • Through Sunday’s games; Eagles–Bears and remaining props play Monday night

The scores tell us who won. The job now is to decide which usage is repeatable, which disappointing starter deserves patience, and where an injury has created an actual waiver-wire opportunity.

Monday status: Philadelphia at Chicago has not kicked off as this edition is prepared. The game is a watch item below; it is not being counted as a completed Week 3 result. Injury designations and Week 4 depth charts can change after team follow-ups.

Injuries and roster moves that change Week 4

De’Von Achane — torn ACL

Achane is expected to miss the rest of the season, according to NFL Network and ESPN reporting. Battle plan: Ollie Gordon II handled 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown after the exit. He is the immediate volume add; check Jaylen Wright’s stinger/foot status before assuming a clean one-man backfield. Miami’s offense still caps the ceiling. Injury report.

Baker Mayfield — throwing thumb

Mayfield dislocated his right thumb against Minnesota. His MRI reportedly showed no fracture and no ligament or tendon damage, but he is seeking another opinion and Week 4 availability remains uncertain. Prepare a quarterback alternative; do not treat the clean MRI as a clearance to play. MRI update.

J.J. McCarthy — traded to the Giants

Minnesota announced a trade sending McCarthy to New York for a 2027 fifth-round pick, pending a physical. Jaxson Dart is out for the regular season. McCarthy is a speculative superflex add, while the Giants’ pass catchers face a new quarterback transition. A trade does not itself establish the Week 4 starter. Team announcement.

Justin Jefferson — ankle

Jefferson left the Vikings’ win after two catches for 32 yards. Hold and track practice participation, with Jordan Addison gaining urgency as a Week 4 play if Jefferson misses time. Kyler Murray’s quiet passing day is a concern, but one game is too little to abandon the healthy Vikings targets. Team update.

Breece Hall — thigh; Jalen Coker — quad

Both exited Sunday. Hall managers should secure a backfield contingency without assigning a multiweek absence before testing. Coker’s availability matters for Bryce Young and Carolina target volume. Monitor Wednesday’s practices, not a Monday guess. Sunday injury tracker.

Mike Evans, Travis Etienne and Jack Bech

Evans left with a rib injury after scoring for San Francisco; Etienne did not return for New Orleans, with the issue still to be clarified; Bech broke his forearm and is headed to injured reserve. Check the 49ers’ receiver status, keep Kendre Miller on the radar if Etienne misses time, and adjust Raiders depth. League injury tracker.

Mark Andrews — hand

Andrews left the Ravens–Cowboys game with a hand injury but returned in the second half, finishing with three catches for 24 yards on five targets. The return is encouraging, yet Week 4 practice participation matters for a tight end who must catch and secure the ball. Matthew Hibner’s touchdown makes him a deep-league watch only if Andrews’s hand limits him. Game and injury update.

Terrance Ferguson — ankle

Ferguson aggravated his ankle in the Rams’ Sunday night loss. Sean McVay had no immediate postgame update. With Puka Nacua already out, the Rams’ pass-catcher availability deserves another look before Week 4; Ferguson is a hold in deeper tight-end formats until practice clarifies the setback. Sunday injury tracker.

Game by game: winner, loser and what to do next

Falcons at Packers

ATL 35 · GB 14 — Thursday

Winner Bijan Robinson went for 194 rushing yards and two scores; Drake London caught nine for 194. Michael Penix Jr.’s return reopened the passing ceiling.

Loser Green Bay’s offense: Jordan Love was pressured relentlessly, and the running game produced almost nothing without Josh Jacobs.

Health Packers offensive-line absences and Atlanta corner A.J. Terrell’s injury matter more than a new skill-position departure here.

Week 4 call: Keep starting Bijan and London. Hold your best Packers, but downgrade their short-term environment until the line stabilizes.

Chargers at Bills

BUF 24 · LAC 16

Winner James Cook’s 154 rushing yards and touchdown rescued Buffalo after an ugly first half.

Loser Josh Allen threw two interceptions, and the Bills committed five turnovers. Justin Herbert could not turn those opportunities into a winning fantasy environment.

Health Chargers corner Donte Jackson sustained a concussion; Bills corner Christian Benford left with a toe injury.

Week 4 call: Allen remains an automatic start. Keep Cook firmly in lineups; do not make a season-long Herbert decision off one difficult road spot.

Panthers at Browns

CLE 21 · CAR 18

Winner Harold Fannin Jr. caught two touchdowns, including the decisive score. His role deserves tight-end starter consideration.

Loser Bryce Young’s protection failed under Cleveland pressure. That is a matchup and line problem, not grounds to drop him in superflex.

Health Jalen Coker left with a quad injury; Carolina corner Mike Jackson had a groin injury.

Week 4 call: Start Fannin where the TE pool is thin. Reassess Young and the Carolina receivers once Coker’s status is known.

Jets at Lions

DET 31 · NYJ 24

Winner Jahmyr Gibbs scored three times with 164 scrimmage yards. On the other side, Geno Smith threw three TDs and rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq posted seven catches, 105 yards and a score.

Loser The Jets lost the game on a late strip sack, but the fantasy passing production was real.

Health Breece Hall exited with a thigh injury. Determine his practice trajectory before buying into a replacement’s full-week workload.

Week 4 call: Sadiq belongs in starting-TE discussions; Gibbs needs no debate. Hold Hall and prepare a backup.

Texans at Colts

IND 19 · HOU 17

Winner Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and Tyler Warren absorbed 30 of Daniel Jones’s 36 targets with Alec Pierce out. Volume is the actionable fact.

Loser Houston’s passing game managed little without Nico Collins; C.J. Stroud threw for 167 yards. Jonathan Taylor’s 23 carries yielded 68 yards against a strong front.

Health Pierce’s absence and Collins’s hamstring remain the important receiving-room checks; Colts kicker Spencer Shrader tweaked his groin.

Week 4 call: Keep starting Taylor and Warren. Jones’s three turnovers make his one-QB floor less appealing; wait for Collins practice news.

Patriots at Jaguars

JAX 35 · NE 6

Winner Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdowns to three different players, and Jacksonville’s defense dominated.

Loser Drake Maye turned it over three times and was pulled late. That is a rough week for the New England passing pieces, not an automatic drop on Maye.

Health Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore and offensive lineman Greg Van Roten did not return.

Week 4 call: Lawrence is back in matchup-based QB1 range. Hold Maye in deeper leagues while studying the offensive line and next opponent.

Chiefs at Dolphins

KC 24 · MIA 10

Winner Kenneth Walker scored twice for Kansas City, one rushing and one receiving, and remains a weekly difference maker.

Loser Miami’s offense lost its most explosive back. Malik Willis’s rushing adds a floor, but the overall unit has little margin for fantasy mistakes.

Health Achane tore his ACL and is expected to miss the season. Ollie Gordon II got 17 carries and a TD; Jaylen Wright was inactive with stinger/foot issues.

Week 4 call: Gordon is a priority waiver claim. Bid for expected volume, while remembering Miami’s offensive limitations and Wright’s possible return.

Titans at Giants

NYG 12 · TEN 7

Winner Cam Skattebo and Najee Harris carried the Giants’ offense on a rainy, touchdown-free afternoon.

Loser Jameis Winston threw for only 118 yards. The Giants’ receiving outlook remains fragile, and Cam Ward’s Titans could not finish red-zone chances.

Health Brian Burns is believed to have torn his ACL. On Monday, Minnesota announced the McCarthy trade, pending his physical, after Dart’s season-ending injury.

Week 4 call: Stash McCarthy in superflex. Do not assume he starts immediately or that the trade instantly lifts Malik Nabers and the rest of this passing game.

Bengals at Steelers

PIT 30 · CIN 27

Winner Jaylen Warren ran for 127 yards, while Aaron Rodgers threw three scores. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins each found the end zone for Cincinnati.

Loser A volatile Pittsburgh receiving rotation still makes it hard to trust any secondary wideout every week.

Health Bengals WR Colbie Young left with a knee injury; safety Bryan Cook left with an ankle issue.

Week 4 call: Warren’s workload earns a start. Stay patient with the Cincinnati core; make the Pittsburgh receiver calls by routes and targets.

Seahawks at Commanders

WAS 33 · SEA 31

Winner Sam Darnold threw four touchdowns, including two to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Marcus Mariota answered with three TD throws, and Terry McLaurin scored.

Loser Seattle’s three turnovers helped erase a productive fantasy afternoon.

Health Jayden Daniels’s Week 2 elbow injury remains the Washington quarterback hinge; monitor team updates before assuming Mariota gets another start.

Week 4 call: JSN and McLaurin remain starts. Mariota is a superflex option only while Daniels is out.

Cardinals at 49ers

SF 36 · ARI 30

Winner Brock Purdy threw four touchdowns; George Kittle caught two. Arizona’s Michael Wilson caught 11 passes for 89 yards and a TD, while Jeremiyah Love looked more involved.

Loser A productive Arizona passing day still ended in defeat, but that is no reason to sell Trey McBride or the receivers.

Health Mike Evans left with a rib injury after an early touchdown; monitor the 49ers’ practice reports.

Week 4 call: Keep Kittle and McBride locked in. Wilson’s volume is meaningful, especially in deep PPR leagues.

Vikings at Buccaneers

MIN 23 · TB 16

Winner Jordan Addison’s long touchdown became more important once Jefferson departed. Rachaad White scored for Tampa Bay.

Loser Kyler Murray’s passing line was underwhelming even in a win, and Tampa Bay could not finish its late chances.

Health Jefferson left with an ankle injury. Mayfield dislocated his throwing thumb; MRI reportedly showed no fracture or tendon/ligament damage, but his availability is not settled.

Week 4 call: Hold Jefferson. Put Addison in your tentative lineup and secure a Baker replacement until the quarterback situation clears.

Raiders at Saints

LV 35 · NO 27

Winner Brock Bowers returned with 10 catches, 116 yards and a touchdown. Kirk Cousins threw at least three touchdowns for the third straight game.

Loser Tyler Shough and New Orleans lost four fourth-quarter possessions to turnovers. That ugly finish should not erase the tight-end production from Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant.

Health Travis Etienne did not return; the Saints have not yet established the fantasy impact. Raiders WR Jack Bech suffered a broken forearm and is headed to IR.

Week 4 call: Bowers is back to elite-TE treatment. Keep Kendre Miller in the waiver conversation while Etienne’s status develops.

Ravens at Cowboys

BAL 34 · DAL 31 — Rio de Janeiro

Winner Zay Flowers returned and led Baltimore’s receivers. Lamar Jackson also found Matthew Hibner for a red-zone touchdown in a close game.

Loser Baltimore’s passing distribution still limits confidence in the tertiary receivers; Dallas’s defense allowed 34 points.

Health Mark Andrews hurt his hand but returned and finished with three catches for 24 yards. Ravens centers Ethan Pocic (knee) and Jovaughn Gwyn (ankle) did not return.

Week 4 call: Keep Lamar, Henry and Flowers in. Check Andrews’s hand in practice; Hibner is a conditional deep-league watch, not an automatic starter.

Rams at Broncos

DEN 30 · LAR 26 — Sunday night

Winner Davante Adams caught seven for 137, and Konata Mumpfield flashed with 93 yards and a touchdown. Bo Nix scored three total TDs despite an uneven passing night.

Loser Matthew Stafford’s 390 yards were offset by two interceptions, and Denver’s offense gained only 257 yards.

Health Puka Nacua missed the game with a hip issue. Rams TE Terrance Ferguson aggravated an ankle injury, and CB Jaylen Watson hurt his shoulder.

Week 4 call: Do not sell Puka at an injury discount. Adams stays in lineups; Mumpfield becomes a conditional add if Nacua misses another game.

Monday night and the Week 4 reset

Eagles at Bears is still ahead. Do not freeze your Week 4 calls until that game and the Tuesday injury follow-ups are complete. Our pending Deep Space Degen touchdown call is Rome Odunze at +480. Two selections from the Proptimizer’s top-ten card also remain ungraded. Check the live Proptimizer for the Monday props and Ask Max for a DraftKings Showdown build. We will update the totals after the final whistle.

Hold the talent: Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Jonathan Taylor, Trey McBride, Puka Nacua and Justin Jefferson are not panic drops or automatic benches because of one game or an injury without a confirmed timetable. Change the plan: Achane managers need an immediate replacement; Baker managers need a viable Week 4 QB; Giants superflex managers should consider McCarthy with a starter-status caveat.
