Fantasy Football: Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups

Daily Dr. Roto — September 17, 2019

Waiver Wire for Week 3

Quarterbacks

Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers

Rudolph takes over for the injured Big Ben and to be honest I like his upside. He’s big, strong, and a terrific pocket passer. He kind of reminds me of a young Roethlisberger. I still think he’s a couple of years away from being really good, but he might surprise people and is definitely worth a waiver wire pickup.

Teddy Bridgewater, New Orleans Saints

Teddy B had a nightmare performance against the Rams. I know he wasn’t prepared to play in the game, but still, I expected more when he came in. I think there’s some talent here and he does have good skill players around him so if you lost Brees, Bridgewater is certainly worth a pickup.… Continue reading ...

Offense

Steelers offense

Last year the Steelers attempted only 350 rushes, which accounted for 33.7 percent of their offensive plays. Over the previous three seasons with Le’Veon Bell rushing the ball, Pittsburgh averaged 408 runs per seasons highlighted by 2017 (437).

On the flip side, Pittsburgh threw the ball a league-high 689 times. With no Antonio Brown in 2019, the Steelers will have to become much more balanced on offense.

2018 Fantasy Football: Pittsburgh Steelers Team Outlook

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have been one of the best franchises in the NFL since 2001 while having elite success since 1972. Over the last 17 seasons, Pittsburgh has 179-92-1 record with 12 playoff appearances and two Super Bowl wins. They have ten wins or more in each of their last four seasons while posting a 13-3 season in 2017.

Mike Tomlin returns for his 12th season as head coach. He has a 116-60 record with eight playoff berths and one Super Bowl title. Tomlin has an 8-7 record in the postseason, but only 3-5 over his last five appearances. His path to the Super Bowl would be much easier if he didn’t have to deal with the New England Patriots in most seasons.Continue reading ...

WR James Washington, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Overview

James Washington enters the NFL as one of the most productive college receivers in recent memory. Making an impact all four years of his career, Washington finished school with 4,472 yards and 39 touchdowns on 226 receptions. After his junior season, he was thought to be a prime candidate to enter the NFL draft but decided to stay alongside quarterback and fellow draft prospect Mason Rudolph. Built like a running back, Washington did not exactly explode at the combine but produced satisfactory wide receiver numbers to go along with his excellent college production.Continue reading ...
