CFL DFS: Week 12

Week 11 Review:

Last week was a weird week in all honesty. The Toronto chalk failed horribly, and Calgary went off. Pipkin had himself another solid fantasy outing leading the Alouettes to a win, so I am curious to see if he will get that start for this week! Kamar Jorden reminded us that he is a top WR option in this league by posting 42.9 DK points which is insane!!! Let’s see if we can right the ship for this week.

Week 12

QB

The popular play of the week will be Trevor Harris against Montreal, but I am going to lessen my exposure to him this week based on pricing. Harris is the top QB this week, priced at $11,600. In this same matchup a few weeks back, he was $10,700 and he only went for 25 DK points. In the same matchup in week 4, he was below 10k and put up 30 DK points. For me, the pricing is what is making this a tough play and if he only goes out there and gets you 25 DK points this week, that might not be enough the price that you are paying. We will need Harris to go for 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns to pay off this salary!

I do think Jeremiah Masoli is in a good spot if you are wanting to pivot and save some money for the top tier qbs. He is priced at $11,300 and offers similar upside that you would get with Trevor Harris in his matchup. Toronto has struggled against the pass and is just coming off a heartbreaking defensive performance in losing to Pipkin and the Alouettes. No offense to Montreal, but if Pipkin can throw for over 300 yards against this defense, I really think Masoli will be able to do the same this week!

Antonio Pipkin has been named the starting qb this week for Montreal and I think he could be in play as a cheap gpp flier. He is only 8k and in both of his performances this year, he has gone for 19 and 29 DK points. He has been named the starter and it seems like this Alouettes team has been rallying behind him. One thing that Pipkin has been doing is gaining yards in both the air and on the ground as well as scoring on the ground. Ottawa does have a g stingy defense but it Pipkin can use his legs in this matchup, it might soften up the secondary a bit and keep the defense on their heels.

RB

Don Jackson is way too cheap for the matchup he is in. He is priced at $6,300 and draws a favorable matchup against an Eskimos defense which has been in the lower half of the league when facing the run. They are tied for last in terms of rushing touchdowns allowed with 14, so that is averaging a little over 1 per game. I think for the price and matchup, Jackson is a very solid lock for both cash and GPP plays.

For the more expensive running backs, I think William Powell is in a great spot. He is $7,900 and dominated the Alouettes a few weeks back. Montreal has allowed the most yards on the ground this season but surprisingly, they have done a great job in limiting touchdowns on the ground, only allowing 8 all season long. I still feel confident in rolling out Powell as my high-priced running back for this week and using the salary savings on another position!

Alex Green has been extremely consistent, and I am happy to see his price still below 8k. He has seen 50 rushing attempts since being inserted into the starting lineup so with that volume and workload, it is hard to pass up. Toronto has allowed yards but just like Montreal, they have only allowed 8 rushing touchdowns all season long. Hopefully, we can see Green catch one out of the backfield and take one to the house!

WR

Kamar Jorden has been on fire ever since Eric Rogers went down with his injury. Over the span of 3 games, he has seen 25 targets and caught over 500 yards receiving! His price is up there at $10,200 but he has gone for over 30+ DK points in 2 out of the last 4 games. I think he will continue to be fed the ball throughout the coming weeks and he is in play this week. Also, Davaris Daniels makes for a great play as well if needing salary relief and wanting exposure to this game.

Ottawa is tricky this week since we are not getting the discount on them like we did a few weeks back. I do think Ellingson is in play, especially after going off for 25 SK points last time they played Montreal. The one drawback is pricing since he is $8,800 this time around. The other Ottawa receiver I have interest in is Dominique Rhymes at $4,600 and I think this is the best spot for salary relief. He has put up double digit DK performances in back to back games and has had 5+ receptions in both of those games as well.

Hamilton has been tricky to navigate through for the receivers the past few weeks. Chris Williams was lost for the season due to an Achilles injury, so Mike Jones has slid into a starting receiver role. Banks was a huge let down last week, but I do not see him replicating that poor performance this week, so I do think he is a safe top tier play. Jalen Saunders was a late scratch last week, so a bunch of targets went to Luke Tasker who had himself a game! Tasker ended up being a great security blanket and if Saunders is another late scratch, I will look to plug him into my lines.

Some one-off kind of plays could be Geno Lewis of Montreal or BJ Cunningham. Ottawa has a very solid pass defense, but both wide receivers have scored double digit DK points the past several weeks and offer a nice little savings. Also, they would make for a contrarian play if you decide to roster them with a few Ottawa players! For the sake of my sanity, I will also list SJ Green. He has burned me the past several weeks so the one time I decide to not even think about rostering him, this would be the week he goes off. Toronto lost Anthony Coombs for a few games and Duron Carter will not be playing so the Argonauts will be limited in terms of their receiving corps which means SJ Green should be in play and targeted heavily.

Def.-

The SSK defense is extremely tough to beat when playing at home. Winnipeg has a very balanced attack, so this will be on of the toughest matchups they have faced all season long! What makes this defensive matchup good is that Winnipeg is coming in banged up, specifically Andrew Harris. He has not practiced all week and although they are saying he is good to go, he might not get the full workload we are used to, just to keep him healthy. SSK is still under priced so it is hard to not go there every week. Also, there has only been one week that this defense did not scored double digits when playing at home
