Week 2 Fantasy Football Injury Report
The Weekend Injury Battle Plan
Puka Nacua’s Monday-night uncertainty is the nightmare scenario, but he is not the only lineup decision that demands a contingency plan before Sunday’s games begin.
Friday-night priority
Secure late-game pivots now
Biggest danger
Puka plays Monday night
Best news
Burrow and Henderson cleared
The final injury report is not just a list of names. It is a timeline. A questionable player in a 1 PM game gives you dozens of alternatives. A surprise absence on Sunday night—or Monday night—can leave you staring at an empty lineup spot. The correct response is not to panic. It is to build the decision tree before waivers close and before the early games lock.
These are the situations that matter most for Week 2, what each practice pattern tells us, which teammates benefit and what fantasy managers should do now. Statuses reflect the Friday injury reports and can change before kickoff.
Your Five-Step Weekend Checklist
- Add the replacement before you need him. Tre’ Harris, Rashod Bateman, Devaughn Vele, Germie Bernard and the Houston receivers become much more expensive after the opportunity is obvious.
- Keep questionable late players in the FLEX. That preserves the widest possible replacement pool.
- Separate “active” from “healthy.” TreVeyon Henderson and Alvin Kamara can play without immediately reclaiming a full workload.
- Treat doubtful as out. Do not sacrifice a quality early starter while waiting for Brock Bowers or Zay Flowers.
- Recheck the inactive list 90 minutes before every kickoff window. Sunday morning news is not enough for Sunday night and Monday night decisions.
The Monday-Night Emergency
Puka Nacua · Hip · Status Pending
Nacua was added to the Rams’ injury report and did not practice Friday after not appearing on Thursday’s report. A new late-week hip injury is concerning on its own. The Rams playing the Giants on Monday night turns it into the most dangerous fantasy decision of the weekend because most replacement options will already be locked when his status becomes clear.
Battle plan: Move Puka into a FLEX spot, not a dedicated WR slot, and roster a playable Ram or Giant—or another Monday option eligible at that position. If Sunday morning arrives with no reassuring practice participation or credible optimism and your only Monday alternative is a zero-volume reserve, use a legitimate top-30 Sunday receiver instead.
FULLTIME BOLD CALL: If Nacua is active, start him. Do not bench an active superstar merely because the week was uncomfortable. The mistake is carrying no escape hatch if he is inactive.
Early Sunday: Make These Decisions First
Nico Collins · Hamstring · Out
Collins will miss Houston’s matchup with Cincinnati after the hamstring injury erased his Thursday and Friday practices. Xavier Hutchinson should retain a full-time route role, while Kayshon Boutte has a path to additional work. The cleanest beneficiary is Dalton Schultz: tight end scarcity makes a target increase more actionable at his position than it is for Houston’s secondary wideouts. Start Schultz as a strong streamer. Hutchinson and Boutte are deep-league volume bets, not automatic lineup replacements for Collins.
Zay Flowers · Hamstring · Doubtful
Flowers returned for limited work Friday but is still doubtful. Build as if he will not play. Rashod Bateman becomes Baltimore’s primary outside receiver, Elijah Sarratt has a clearer path to routes in deep leagues, and Mark Andrews gets a meaningful target boost.
FULLTIME BOLD CALL: Start Bateman as a WR3/flex despite his Week 1 zero. Opportunity changed, and Baltimore has already acknowledged it needs to get him involved. Andrews returns to the top-10 tight-end conversation.
TreVeyon Henderson · Ankle · Active
Henderson practiced in full and says he is ready for his season debut. That removes the availability concern, not the workload concern. Rhamondre Stevenson handled 60 of New England’s 71 offensive snaps in Week 1, and the Patriots have no reason to force a returning Henderson into a full complement immediately.
FULLTIME BOLD CALL: Henderson belongs on most benches this week. Use him only when roster depth forces the issue or when you are specifically chasing his big-play ceiling.
Michael Pittman Jr. · Foot · Questionable
Pittman did not practice Thursday or Friday, a practice pattern that makes his questionable tag genuinely worrisome. If active, he carries both re-injury and reduced-snap risk. If inactive, Pittsburgh’s passing tree tightens around DK Metcalf, while rookie Germie Bernard becomes a credible deep-league flex and DFS salary option.
FULLTIME BOLD CALL: Metcalf gets a material target boost if Pittman sits. Bernard is the aggressive upside play in deeper formats—but do not force a compromised Pittman into lineups over a healthy top-35 receiver.
Chris Olave · Hamstring · Questionable
Olave was added Thursday and remained limited Friday. The 1 PM kickoff protects fantasy managers from the worst late-swap problems. If active, start him after last week’s 182-yard performance. If inactive, Devaughn Vele moves into the WR2 range and Bryce Lance becomes a desperation flex. Do not preemptively bench Olave when we will have his official status before the early slate locks.
Alvin Kamara · Knee · Cleared
Kamara is off the final injury report and will debut against Baltimore. “Active” still does not promise a vintage Kamara workload. Travis Etienne Jr. controlled the receiving work in Week 1, Kendre Miller remains involved and is now managing a toe issue, and New Orleans can ease Kamara back. Etienne remains the preferred fantasy play as an RB3. Kamara is a cautious depth play, while Miller is a bench hold rather than a Week 2 start.
Joe Burrow · Back · Cleared
Burrow’s early-week limitations created noise, but a full Friday practice resolves the concern. Start Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown normally. Houston is a difficult matchup; it is not a reason to bench Cincinnati’s stars.
Atlanta Quarterbacks · Michael Penix Jr. Out
Penix is out, Tua Tagovailoa is doubtful and Cooper Rush will start. That is a downgrade for the entire passing game. Bijan Robinson remains an elite RB1 and should be the offensive centerpiece. Drake London is a volatile WR2 because his talent and target share survive poor quarterback play. Kyle Pitts is a bench until the quarterback environment improves.
Late Sunday: Do Not Get Trapped
Ladd McConkey · Ribs · Questionable
McConkey missed the first two practices before returning in a limited capacity Friday. That gives him a chance, but rib injuries can affect every route, hit and contested catch. Because the Chargers play late, McConkey managers need a late-window replacement already rostered.
FULLTIME BOLD CALL: If McConkey is inactive, Tre’ Harris is the top upside replacement and a legitimate Week 2 pickup—not merely insurance. If Ladd plays, use him when your alternative is a fringe flex, but lower the floor expectation.
Brock Bowers · Knee · Doubtful
Las Vegas plans to test Bowers before the game, but his limited Friday return and doubtful designation tell fantasy managers to prepare for an absence. Do not bypass a healthy early-window TE1 while hoping for a pregame miracle. If your replacement also plays late, you can wait; otherwise make the safe move before 1 PM.
RJ Harvey · Hamstring · Questionable
Harvey was limited and carries meaningful workload uncertainty. Denver has also ruled out Marvin Mims Jr. with a foot injury. Harvey can still be used if active when alternatives are weak, but hamstring uncertainty lowers his touch and explosive-play floor. Mims’ absence consolidates targets for Denver’s healthy primary receivers rather than creating an automatic start among the backups.
Jalen McMillan · Knee · Questionable
McMillan practiced in full all week and is trending toward his season debut, but he is not a Week 2 fantasy start outside extremely deep leagues. If he is inactive again, Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin Jr. retain cleaner target projections. If he plays, his return introduces another mouth without immediately demanding fantasy usage.
Quarterback Fallout: Kyler Murray Is Out
Minnesota ruled out Kyler Murray with a concussion, putting Carson Wentz under center against Chicago. Wentz is a Superflex or two-quarterback option, not a standard-league streamer. Justin Jefferson remains an elite WR1 because the offense will continue designing volume for him. Jordan Addison becomes a deeper flex, and T.J. Hockenson remains in the streaming tier rather than receiving an automatic upgrade.
The broader lesson: backup quarterback news rarely means benching an elite receiver automatically. It usually lowers touchdown expectations and compresses the offense around the most dependable targets.
The Final Decision Board
| Player | Status | FullTime Call | Primary Pivot/Boost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Puka Nacua | Monday uncertainty | Start if active; secure escape hatch | Any viable Monday FLEX |
| Zay Flowers | Doubtful | Plan without him | Bateman / Andrews / Sarratt |
| TreVeyon Henderson | Active | Bench unless chasing upside | Stevenson retains floor |
| Michael Pittman Jr. | Questionable | Avoid if stronger healthy WR available | DK Metcalf / Germie Bernard |
| Ladd McConkey | Questionable | Playable if active, reduced floor | Tre’ Harris |
| Brock Bowers | Doubtful | Use healthy TE unless late pivot exists | Late-window TE |
| Chris Olave | Questionable | Start if active | Devaughn Vele |
| Alvin Kamara | Cleared | Cautious depth play | Etienne remains preferred |
| Joe Burrow | Cleared | Start normally | No downgrade to Bengals stars |
The Bottom Line
Win the weekend before kickoff. Treat Flowers and Bowers as out, keep Puka and McConkey in FLEX spots, roster the replacement before the news breaks, and do not confuse Henderson or Kamara being active with receiving full workloads. Our bold calls remain bold: Bateman is a start, Tre’ Harris is the Ladd contingency with real upside, and TreVeyon belongs on most benches for his first game back.
