The opening slate of Week 13 was a lot of fun. From a fantasy perspective, it felt like a return to normalcy. The football games were generally good, too. The FullTime Fantasy Football Recap Week 13 looks back at the games to see what they mean moving forward.
Hard to believe that the fantasy playoffs are here for many leagues. Our Fantasy Football Recap Week 13 should be able to provide some interesting nuggets to help you advance.
QB1 Hurts
How about that Jalen Hurts guy? The superstar Philadelphia quarterback produced 392 yards of offense and four more touchdowns en route to QB1 honors for the week.
If you took just Hurts’ rushing numbers he would be a top-30 fantasy back.
There were some questions about Hurts this summer. I certainly am guilty of questioning his long-term viability. But the former Alabama signal-caller has silenced those critics.
But Jalen Hurts wasn’t the only hurts that came out of the quarterback position today.
Unfortunately, QB injuries put the hurtin’ on many fantasy lineups in Week 13.
Lamar Jackson suffered an early knee injury and was unable to return. After the game, John Harbaugh said Jackson could miss some time but the injury is not season-ending. At least we were the lowest in the entire industry on Jackson versus Denver this week.
Later, Jimmy Garoppolo hurt his foot and was carted to the locker room in the first quarter. For a team with a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl, the 49ers have had some bad luck with quarterback injuries.
That got me looking at the overall status of the quarterback position heading into the fantasy lineups.
By my count, nine of the 28 teams playing this week have different starters playing right now than they opened the season with.
As they say, the 18-week regular season is a war of attrition. Especially if you just happen to be taking snaps under center.
