Fantasy Football Recap Week 12

Looking back at Sunday's fantasy football action

Rachaad White

Week 12 is always one of my favorite weeks. By the time Sunday rolled around I was still working on Thanksgiving leftovers. Unfortunately, as you’ll read in the FullTime Fantasy Football Recap Week 12, reheated turkey and stuffing was the only highlight of the early afternoon.

Let’s take a look back at what should have been a banner Sunday for more than just my first-ever butter-baked turkey. Which was elite, by the way.

Finally a 10 week

There were seven games in the early kick window. And, as appealing as some of those matchups were, the scoring certainly didn’t live up to the bill.

Maybe all the boys were still feeling the effects of the tryptophan.

Heading into the third quarter, only two of the 14  teams active have more than one touchdown. Eight teams had exactly 10 as their score.

Now, normally a 10 is a good thing. However, for NFL and fantasy football purposes, it is not.

And there were some solid matchups, too. But, it’s usually difficult for teams to overcome poor quarterback play. And that’s precisely what the early slate on Sunday served up.

If we’re being fair, I’d rate that turkey I served up Thursday considerably higher than the Week 12 action. Unfortunately, it is all gone now. Just like my chances of winning several of my fantasy matchups after the sluggish start to what should have been a banner week.

In an effort to wrap things up positively, the scoring and excitement picked up substantially in the afternoon slate. Which is about as much as we could ask for.

Backfield Breakdown

With so few teams employing a workhorse running back, it is essential for us to track how coaches divide their backfield touches.

Here are the fantasy opportunities from some of Sunday’s backfields. Opportunities means carries plus targets.

Atlanta – Cordarrelle Patterson 33 snaps, 16 opp.; Tyler Allgeier 22 snaps, 11 opp.; Avery Williams 7 snaps, 0 opp.; Caleb Huntley 3 snaps, 2 opp.

Baltimore – Gus Edwards 36 snaps, 17 opp.; Kenyan Drake 18 snaps, 3 opp.; Justice Hill 14 snaps, 1 opp.
