Prescription Notes for NFL Divisional Round Action:
Minnesota Vikings @ San Francisco 49ers
- The 49ers are the most complete team left playing right now. They run the ball effectively and throw it well when they need to. Plus, they all have a suffocating defense led by ROY candidate, Nick Bosa.
- 49ers RB Tevin Coleman had done nothing in the last month to show that he was ready to run for 100+ yards. It just goes to show that the 49ers RB by Committee offense truly is three RBs deep.
- The key stat of the game was Vikings RB Dalvin Cook’s six catches for only eight yards. Not only did the 49ers stop Cook from running the ball (18 yards on nine carries), they effectively stopped him from doing anything of consequence.
Tennessee Titans @ Baltimore Ravens
- The more Ravens QB Lamar Jackson pressed, the worse he seemed to play. Someone needed to relax him and make sure they called easy pass plays to get him better into the action.
- If the Ravens want to make the Super Bowl next year, they need to add at least one top wide receiver in either free agency (or the draft) to help Jackson out on offense.
- Ravens RB Mark Ingram was obviously playing injured with a calf injury. Not that they would have won had he been healthy, but the game would have been much closer.
- Titans RB Derrick Henry’s running style is the closest to Jim Brown than anyone has seen in decades. And like the Gods in Greek Mythology, the more Henry touches the ball, the stronger he gets.
- The Titans changed their season around when they named QB Ryan Tannehill as starter. Tannehill presence keeps opposing defenses honest unlike when Marcus Mariota was playing.
- The more I see Titans WR A.J. Brown, the more I think we are looking at a future WR1 for Fantasy purposes.

Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs
- The Texans got off to a very strong start, but without a running game they could not keep the Chiefs’ offense off the field.-Texans HC Bill O’Brien misused RB Duke Johnson all season long. Johnson should be getting 15 touches a game and not five.
- Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was open on practically every single passing play. He provides the biggest advantage of any one player on offense possibly in the league.
- Think about this: The Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill only had 45 total yards from scrimmage and the team still won handily.
- Chiefs DT Frank Clark might be one of the best free agent signings in recent history. He gives the Chiefs a relentless pass rusher who put Deshaun Watson on his heels the entire game. It’s hard to imagine why the Seahawks thought they couldn’t use him anymore.
- The best thing that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes did in this game? Run for 53 yards. It wasn’t only the yards, though, it was how and when he got them.
Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers
- Green Bay’s offense was limited to two people, RB Aaron Jones and WR Davante Adams, but it did not matter–both players had two TDs each and could not be stopped.-Seahawks WR Malik Turner’s dropped pass might have cost the Seahawks the game. On the next play Russell Wilson was sacked and then the team was forced to punt and never saw the ball again.
- Seattle needs to go out and find a top Cornerback in either free agency or in the draft. CBs Tre Flowers and Shaq Griffin are just not good enough to stop the other team’s top receivers.
- Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch might not be able to run for 100+ yards anymore, but he certainly can still be a goal-line RB in the NFL.
- I would like to see this game played again, but this time with Seahawks RB Chris Carson healthy and playing; I think the result RB Aaron Jones and WR Davante Adams might be much different.
