Week 14 NFL Quarterback Report

Geno Smith (34.20) and Jake Browning (30.90) were the two surprises in quarterback scoring in Week 13, leading to them finishing first and fourth in scoring. Brock Purdy (32.60 – 2nd) had his second elite game over the past three weeks despite not attempting more than 27 passes in each matchup. Dak Prescott (31.25 – 3rd) posted his fifth impact showing over the last six weeks. Eight other quarterbacks scored between 20.00 and 28.00 fantasy points. Here are the top five quarterbacks by scoring average after 13 weeks:

  • Josh Allen (27.91)
  • Jalen Hurts (27.23)
  • Dak Prescott (24.43)
  • C.J. Stroud (23.62)
  • Justin Herbert (22.52)

Using our Week 14 Fantasy Football Rankings, let’s break down this week’s field in the FullTime Fantasy Week 14 NFL Quarterback Report.

Top Tier Options

Josh Allen, BUF (DK – $8,300/FD – $9,000)

Over his last seven starts, Allen gained fewer than 7.0 yards per pass attempt in five matchups (5.6, 6.5, 6.8, 6.8, and 6.6). He threw an interception in eight consecutive games. Allen tried to carry the Bills on his back in his start vs. the Eagles (420 combined yards with four touchdowns), but it wasn’t enough to win the game. All three (39.70, 32.35, and 33.30) of his other games with more than 30.00 fantasy points came at home. He has nine rushing scores over his last 10 starts.

Kansas City slipped to ninth in quarterback defense (17.55 FPPG), with only Jordan Love (26.35) scoring more than 25.00 fantasy points. They allow 6.9 yards per pass attempt, with quarterbacks tossing 18 touchdowns. The Chiefs have yet to give up more than three touchdowns in any matchup in 2023.

Allen is the highest-scoring quarterback (27.91) with a reasonable chance at scoring 3 times his salary at DraftKings in most weeks. His ceiling requires the Chiefs to play at a higher level offensively as well. I view him as more of a gamble than a target in Week 14.

Patrick Mahomes, KC (DK – $7,900/FD – $8,400)

Over the last five games, Patrick Mahomes averaged 222 passing yards with only seven touchdowns and some help in the run game (24/117). The Chiefs’ lack of star power at wide receiver remains an issue. His only game (453/4) supporting his current salary came in Week 7 at home against the Chargers. Mahomes has 14 touchdowns in six games in Kansas City compared to eight on the road over the same number of snaps. In 2022, he gained 359 yards and two touchdowns vs. the Bills.

Buffalo showed more risk

Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 14

Remember when Thursday was ‘Must See TV’? That no longer applies. After being blessed with a terrific game last week that featured no punts, football fans will be hard-pressed to be excited about the Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 14.

After watching a game with no punts, Week 14 features two of the five lowest-scoring teams in football. New England is coming off a 6-0 shutout. The Patriots have scored one touchdown total in their last three games. Additionally, being shutout by the Chargers’ 28th-ranked defense does not bode well for a trip to Pittsburgh to face a Steelers defense that has surrendered the sixth-fewest points.

Meanwhile, only four other teams have mustered fewer points on offense than Pittsburgh. Additionally, the Steelers are now trotting out their No. 2 quarterback on short rest.

The Steelers opened as slight favorites and a futile total of 35 points plummeted down to a meager 30.

Hardly a must-see event- this AFC duel is strictly for diehards and fantasy fanatics.

Matchup

TEAM OFFENSE PASS RUSH YDS/PLAY POINTS
New England Patriots 28 23 21 28 32
Pittsburgh Steelers 26 28 14 25 28

These two teams put the offense in ‘offensive’.

New England has struggled in all facets of assembling a credible offense. They have scored the fewest points in football. Also, New England has a pathetic 10-to-14 TD-to-INT ratio. Finally, they rank 31st in average starting position, percentage of drives resulting in points, and dead-last in field goal percentage.

Things have been marginally better in Pittsburgh, especially since dismissing Matt Canada. The Steelers are a respectable 14th with 1,384 rushing yards and lead the NFL with only 10 turnovers. Mike Tomlin has done another fantastic job guiding a very marginal offensive unit to a 7-5 record.

Finally, acclimate yourself with Pressley Harvin III and Bryce Baringer, the team’s punters.

Week 13 DFS: Running Back Report

The winning running back ticket landed on Kyren Williams (38.40 fantasy points) in Week 13. Christian McCaffrey (30.90) finished with the runner-up prize, followed by Bijan Robinson (27.30) and Isiah Pacheco (25.90). Seven other running backs scored between 20.00 and 22.50 fantasy points. Here are the top five running backs by scoring average after 12 weeks:

  • Christian McCaffrey (24.98)
  • Raheem Mostert (18.48)
  • Travis Etienne (17.44)
  • Rachaad White (14.94)
  • Josh Jacobs (14.61)

Also, check out FullTime Fantasy‘s Week 13 DFS QB Report and TE Report.

Top Tier Options

Christian McCaffrey, SF (DK – $9,000/FD – $9,800)

Even with his second-best fantasy game (30.90) in Week 12, McCaffrey didn’t score high enough to fill his current salary bucket. He has a floor of 20.00 fantasy points over the past five weeks, averaging 21.6 touches. The 49ers have had him on the field for 76% of their plays or more over his last five starts. His best showing (20/106/3 with seven catches for 71 yards and one touchdown) of the year came in Week 4. Last year, McCaffrey gained 106 combined yards with one touchdown and four catches against the Eagles.

Philadelphia has the best defense in the NFL vs. running backs (15.63 FPPG). They allow 4.1 yards per rush, with backs scoring only two touchdowns. Kansas City (30/168) and Buffalo (40/173/2) ran the ball well against them over the past two weeks, but 119 yards (34.9%) came from the quarterback position. Running backs have 58 catches for 359 yards on 75 targets.

McCaffrey doesn’t have the best matchup. The 49ers will ride him early and often in this game, with an uptick of value in the passing game should be expected. He needs multiple touchdowns and at least one big play to be in the mix in Week 13.

Alvin Kamara, NO (DK – $8,200/FD – $8,300)

The fun and excitement of Kamara left the building over the last three weeks. His regression in stats over this span came from…

Week 13 NFL Quarterback Report

Last week, the top-tier quarterbacks all posted impact games. Josh Allen (44.05) led the way in fantasy points in four-point passing touchdown leagues while outdueling Jalen Hurts (38.50). Dak Prescott (35.55) continued his midseason rise, as did C.J. Stroud (33.90). Seven other quarterbacks scored between 21.00 and 29.50 fantasy points. Here are the top five quarterbacks by scoring average after 12 weeks:

  • Josh Allen (27.91)
  • Jalen Hurts (27.26)
  • C.J. Stroud (24.05)
  • Dak Prescott (23.81)
  • Justin Herbert (23.60)

Using our Week 13 Fantasy Football Rankings, let’s break down this week’s field in the FullTime Fantasy Week 13 NFL Quarterback Report.

Top-Tier Options

Jalen Hurts, PHI (DK – $8,200/FD – $9,000)

The passing attack for the Eagles lost momentum over their last three games (207/2, 150/0, and 200/3). But Hurts held form by his success on the ground (36/130/5). Philadelphia is in the middle of a challenging five-game run (DAL, @KC, BUF, SF, and @DAL). Hurts had a floor of 25.00 fantasy points in seven of his last eight matchups while offering three impact games (31.35, 31.55, and 38.50). Last year, the 49ers held him to 160 combined yards with one rushing touchdown.

San Francisco has the fourth-best defense (15.55 FPPG) defending quarterbacks, with three offenses (NYG – 313/2, MIN – 377/2, and CIN – 326/3) scoring more than 25.00 fantasy points. They play well vs. the run, and quarterbacks gain only 6.2 yards per pass attempt. Three teams (LAR – 24/243, MIN – 17/241/2, and CIN – 21/235/3) gained more than 200 yards with their wideouts.

Hurts has a high floor, and the Eagles need him to play well to beat the 49ers. His matchup isn’t ideal for the daily games unless the Eagles throw the ball much better. I don’t see him scoring 33.00 fantasy points, which is needed to fill his salary bucket.

C.J. Stroud, Hou (DK – $8,100/FD – $8,000)

Stroud’s success over the last four weeks (1,530/12) pushed him to third in quarterback scoring (264.50). His best play continues…

Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 13

Last Thursday was full of food, family, and football. This week, we get back to normal with just one game. The FullTime Fantasy Thursday Night Football Preview: Week 12 breaks down the fantasy and sports betting prospects for Seattle’s trip to Dallas.

The ‘traveling on short rest’ narrative doesn’t apply here since both the Seahawks and Cowboys hosted Thanksgiving games one week ago. Afforded their full week of rest, both squads were able to fully prepare for this pivotal matchup up NFC playoff contenders.

However, the Seahawks do have to contend with key injuries on offense, which gives them a huge disadvantage in taking on Dallas’ No. 2 ranked defense. Additionally, the Cowboys have been dominant at home. Dallas has won their last 13 games in Arlington and has been blowing teams away this season.

Dallas opened as 5.5-point favorites but that line quickly shot up to -9. Additionally, the total rose a point and a half to 47.

Matchup

TEAM OFFENSE PASS RUSH YDS/PLAY POINTS
Seattle Seahawks 22 17 26 13 18
Dallas Cowboys 7 4 13 5 1

Geno Smith has regressed from the stellar numbers he posted out of nowhere last season. That’s caused the Seahawks to struggle to maintain drives and outscore opponents. Also, Seattle’s offensive line has been one of the poorest units in the league, leading to struggles rushing the ball and converting third downs (29th).

The Seahawks have also dropped three of their last four games and will once again be without star RB Kenneth Walker. That doesn’t bode well for their chances of pulling out a much-needed win against an opponent that has averaged 40 points per game at home this season.

Meanwhile, Dallas leads the NFL in scoring and has allowed the fourth-fewest points. The Cowboys rank second against the pass and look like a poor matchup for a Seattle squad starting a rookie backup running back. A fearsome pass rush combined with a play-making secondary will also cause major problems for Smith and the passing attack.

So, do the Seahawks stand a chance or are we in for another Thursday Night snoozefest?

Seattle Offense

QB Geno Smith has struggled in three of his last four games- all of which Seattle has lost. Additionally, Smith has been dealing with an elbow injury. Facing a defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points to the position doesn’t feel like a get-right spot…

How will Thursday’s Seahawks vs. Cowboys game go?

Week 12 DFS: Running Back Report

Saquon Barkley (30.00) was the best running back in the league in Week 12. That was despite playing on the road with a third-string quarterback and a questionable offensive line. No other back scored more than 24.00 fantasy points in PPR formats. Jaylen Warren (23.50), Jahmyr Gibbs (21.50), and Christian McCaffrey (21.30) rounded out this week’s running back superfecta. Here are the top five running backs by scoring average after 11 weeks:

  • Christian McCaffrey (24.39)
  • Raheem Mostert (18.19)
  • Travis Etienne (17.92)
  • Rachaad White (15.13)
  • D’Andre Swift (15.07)

Also, check out FullTime Fantasy‘s Week 11 DFS QB Report and TE Report.

Top Tier Options

Jonathan Taylor, IND (DK – $6,900/FD – $7,500)

In their last game, the Colts had Jonathan Taylor on the field for 88% of their snaps, compared to 16% by Zack Moss. Taylor averaged 20.3 touches over Indy’s previous four games, with 361 combined yards, three touchdowns, and 10 catches. He ran the ball well in his last two home starts (30/170/1 – 5.7 yards per rush), with success in the passing game (4/47).

Tampa Bay comes into Week 12 with the fourth-best defense against running backs (16.31 FPPG), with no team scoring more than 25.00 fantasy points. The Bucs allow 3.7 yards per rush (241/900/4). Backs have 50 catches for 309 yards (6.2 YPC) and two touchdowns on 59 targets.

Four of the top seven running backs are off the main slate on Sunday, including Christian McCaffrey and Austin Ekeler. Taylor doesn’t have the best matchup, and Indy could always rotate in Zack Moss to steal away some of his upside. Taylor should be in daily gamer thoughts in Week 12 based on potential opportunity and explosiveness.

Week 12 NFL Quarterback Report

Trevor Lawrence (34.80 fantasy points) finished as the top quarterback in Week 11, moving him to 16th in quarterback scoring (189.10 FPPG) in four-point passing touchdown leagues. Brock Purdy (30.05) was the only other quarterback to score more than 30.00 fantasy points. Twelve QBs posted between 21.00 and 28.50 fantasy points. Over the past three weeks, C.J. Stroud and Dak Prescott were the highest two quarterbacks. Here are the top five players after 11 weeks in scoring average:

  • Josh Allen (26.44)
  • Jalen Hurts (26.14)
  • Justin Herbert (24.21)
  • C.J. Stroud (23.07)
  • Dak Prescott (22.64)

Using our Week 12 Fantasy Football Rankings, let’s break down this week’s field in the FullTime Fantasy Week 12 NFL Quarterback Report.

Top Tier Options

Josh Allen, BUF (DK – $8,100/FD – $9,200)

Allen continues to hold the top spot in quarterback scoring (290.85 fantasy points). But his ticket has come in only once (Week 8 – 33.30 fantasy points) over the past six weeks in the DFS market. The Bills played seven of their first 11 games at home (one matchup was overseas). He had more interceptions (6) than passing touchdowns (5) on the road. All three of his games with more than 30.00 fantasy points came at home.

Philadelphia ranks 29th vs. quarterbacks (22.99 FPPG), with failure in three matchups (MIN – 364/4, WAS – 408/4, and DAL – 388/3). Despite their struggles, the Eagles allow 6.6 yards per pass attempt while delivering 31 sacks. Wide receivers (166/1,922/15 on 266 targets) gained 200 yards in five different games (MIN – 17/265/2, WAS – 22/230/1, MIA – 20/206/1, WAS – 24/288/3, and DAL – 18/271/2).

The Josh Allen/Stefon Diggs combination has a chance to shine in this game, as both players must play well to win on the road against a top team in the NFL. On the downside, Philly allowed only two touchdowns on the ground, with none going to a quarterback. Allen needs at least 32.00 fantasy points at DraftKings to pay off.

Jalen Hurts, PHI (DK – $8,300/FD – $8,800)

The Cowboys and Chiefs’ defenses held Hurts to 422 combined yards over the last two weeks, but he still delivered five touchdowns, thanks to his value in the run game (22/65/3). Other than Week 8 (319/4), Hurts has 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions over nine matchups. His yards per rush (3.5) are a career-low while being on pace to score 15 times in the run game. Hurts has yet to score over 30.00 fantasy points at home this year.

Buffalo has the fourth-best defense against…

Green Bay at Detroit

TEAM OFFENSE PASS RUSH YDS/PLAY POINTS
Green Bay Packers 22 19 21 13 20
Detroit Lions 4 4 5 4 6

Open: DET -7.5, 44.5

Current: DET -8, 47

As always, the Detroit Lions kick off the holiday festivities. However, these aren’t the hapless Lions of years past. Dan Campbell’s squad has the second-best record in football and boasts a balanced, top-5 offense.

QB Jared Goff plays his best football at home and will be amped to rebound off of a subpar Week 11 showing. Meanwhile, Detroit has a pair of elite fantasy running backs primed to feast off of Green Bay’s 28th-ranked run defense.

The matchup isn’t as great for the pass catchers. However, Goff does have 10 TD strikes in six career games against the Packers. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown has scored a touchdown or exceeded 100 receiving yards in all nine games this season. However, Green Bay allows the fourth-fewest fantasy points to wideouts, so it may take double-digit targets for that streak to continue.

For the Packers, Jordan Love is coming off of his two best games. Facing a Lions’ secondary that has yielded the ninth-most fantasy points to the position puts Love in a favorable spot to deliver another week of high-end QB2 numbers.

However, things look lousy for the ground game. Aaron Jones won’t play, leaving the backfield to A.J. Dillon. Dillon has dominated the backfield snaps and touches when Jones has been sidelined. But he’s been ineffective in that role, averaging just 3.6 yards per carry and just one total reception in the three games Jones has missed.

Detroit is also allowing the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson topped double-digit fantasy points against this secondary back in Week 4. Also, Jayden Reed has developed into a solid WR3/4 option who went 3/55/0 in that game.

TE Luke Musgrave is injured and will be replaced by a committee led by Tucker Kraft. The rookie is a cheap DFS option, only.

Green Bay is 2-5 straight up and against the number since opening the season 2-1. They’ve struggled on the road, losing four straight after winning in Chicago to open the 2023 campaign. And it’s been particularly tough against Detroit, who has covered the spread in 11 of the last 13 matchups with Green Bay.

Detroit has won four of their last five against Green Bay. Also, the Lions have covered in five straight Ford Field matchups hosting the Packers. Detroit beat Green Bay by 14 back in Week 4, but I’m not sure it will be that easy in the rematch. The UNDER has hit in five of Green Bay’s last…

Week 11 DFS: Running Back Report

Brian Robinson surprised in the passing game (6/119/1) against Seattle, highlighted by a 51-yard catch and run for a touchdown, helping him to the top running back production (157 yards with one score and six catches) in Week 10. Jahmyr Gibbs (26.20 fantasy points) finished second, giving him an explosive run over the last three weeks (82.70 fantasy points). A starting job and over 80% of the running back snaps for Devin Singletary (30/150/1 with one catch for 11 yards) led to him rounding out the trifecta. Finally, only three other running backs score more than 20.00 fantasy points – Austin Ekeler (21.50), Javonte Williams (21.00), and Christian McCaffrey (20.20). Here are the top five running backs by scoring average after 10 games:

  • Christian McCaffrey (24.73)
  • Raheem Mostert (19.07)
  • Travis Etienne (18.92)
  • Kenneth Walker (15.00)
  • Rachaad White (14.83)

Also, check out FullTime Fantasy‘s Week 11 DFS QB Report and TE Report.

Top Tier Options

Christian McCaffrey, SF (DK – $9,300/FD – $10,000)

Nine games into 2023, McCaffrey only has one impact game (20/106/3 with seven catches for 71 yards and a touchdown) on his resume. His six high-floor outcomes (25.90, 22.50, 22.90, 23.60, 29.80, and 20.20) work well in the season-long contest but a more challenging piece to win with in the DFS market. A big lead by the 49ers vs. Jacksonville led to McCaffrey being on the field for 76% of their plays, coming after two high snaps games (100% and 97%). His scoring streak ended at 17 games in Week 10.

Tampa Bay comes into this matchup with the second-best defense vs. running backs (15.49 FPPG). No team scored more than 25.00 fantasy points from their backs in any game vs. the Bucs in 2023. Also, they allow 3.7 yards per rush, with running backs scoring only one touchdown (via the pass – 45/284/1 on 54 targets). Quarterbacks scored four times on the ground. However, the Eagles’ backs had the best success (30/173 with two catches for 13 yards).

McCaffrey has two data points that make him an against-the-grain option in Week 11. His salary requires 37+ fantasy points vs. a team that limits the damage in running back scoring. When the best player in the game is expected to be on a low number of rosters with the tools to post a monster showing on any given Sunday, he must be in the mix in the DFS market if possible…

Week 11 NFL Quarterback Report

Over the last three weeks (1,132 combined yards with 12 touchdowns), Dak Prescott has been the best quarterback in the NFL while posting 3rd (32.10), 2nd (32.10), and 1st (42.90) place finishes in four-point passing touchdown leagues. Thirteen quarterbacks scored at least 20.00 fantasy points in Week 10. Justin Herbert (32.65) had the second-highest quarterback score last week, followed by Sam Howell (28.30), Joshua Dobbs (27.80), and Geno Smith (27.75). Here are the top five quarterbacks by scoring average after 10 games:

  • Jalen Hurts (26.66)
  • Josh Allen (26.46)
  • Justin Herbert (23.75)
  • C.J. Stroud (23.21)
  • Dak Prescott (23.15)

Using our Week 11 Fantasy Football Rankings, let’s break down this week’s field in the FullTime Fantasy Week 11 NFL Quarterback Report.

Top Tier Options

Josh Allen, BUF (DK – $8,200/FD – $9,000)

The Bills desperately need a win to put their team back on a playoff track. Allen ranks second in quarterback scoring (264.60) while posting three winning days (39.70, 32.35, and 33.30 fantasy points) and two dismal showings (15.40 and 19.15 fantasy points). In Week 1, the Jets held him to 272 combined yards with one touchdown. Allen scored a rushing touchdown in seven of his last eight games despite trailing his previous path in attempts (48) and run yards (246). New York also held him to two short games (205/0 and 147/1) passing the ball in 2022. Allen did have success on the ground (9/86/2 and 10/47/1).

New York has the seventh-best defense against quarterbacks (16.43 FPPG) while facing BUF (272/1), DAL (269/2), KC (254/1), and PHI (327/2). They allow 5.8 yards per pass attempt, with quarterbacks tossing nine touchdowns. Their defense has 25 sacks (18 over their last five matchups).

Allen has the highest quarterback salary on the board this week, with Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes playing on Monday night. He has an against-the-grain feel, making him a lower percentage own in the DFS market…
