Dr. Roto Podcast – Friday, June 8: Online Championship Review

Dr. Roto and the rest of the team at FullTime Fantasy Sports reviews some critical news and notes from last night's Online Championship!

Online Championship Thoughts & Review

I knew the thirst for Jerick McKinnon would build, but to see him go 17th overall was stunning. Running backs are being pushed up the board this year, but McKinnon ahead of Michael Thomas was a bold move.

Alex Collins going 36th overall was the earliest I have seen him go so far. He was impressive last season with 4.6 yards per carry, but will need to be more involved in the passing game to justify a third round pick.

Getting Derrius Guice as a RB3 in round five was a nice pick. He will rise up draft boards.

Emmanuel Sanders in round eight as the WR44 is a steal.

Team 4 must have been feeling charitable. Ginn, Richardson, Ebron, Taylor, White, Murray, Abdullah, Pryor. He could be looking to cut half his roster by Week 2!I can understand taking a shot here or there on one or two of these land mines, but wow. Team 5 has got his heavy boots on and is stomping through the open fields of Cambodia with that draft.

As much as a like Devonte Freeman, I have to take Christian McCaffery over him due to his passing catching upside. Freeman will battle Tevin Coleman for snaps while the Falcons forgot how to use their backs in the passing game in 2017.

Alex Collins appears to be overpriced based on his draft value in this draft. His passing catching upside will be limited with Kenneth Dixon expected back.

Can a Fantasy owner really draft Alvin Kamara over David Johnson? Love Kamara, but the Saints will still rotate RBs and Mark Ingram will play 12 games.

The RB decisions from the middle of round 8 through the rest of the draft appear to be a dart throwing contest with no clear bull’s eye shining in the background.

Kenny Golladay at WR51 seems like a steal to me. I know Marvin Jones and Golden Tate are in front of him on the depth chart but Golladay is a stud in the making. Speaking of Tate, I believe drafting him as the WR13 over Josh Gordon, Stefon Diggs, TY Hilton and even Allen Robinson will turn out to be costly.

I am so glad Keenan Allen finally got the respect he deserved and was selected in the first round. He is a beast and could benefit even more with Hunter Henry out for the season. He very well could finish as the WR4 in 2018.

I disagree with Kamara being selected before David Johnson as well as Kareem Hunt being drafted before Odell. But that’s why we play the game folks!

Team 7’s starting lineup is ridiculous:

QB Aaron Rodgers | RB1 Saquon Barkley| RB2 Rashaad Penny | WR1 Michael Thomas | WR2 Stefon Diggs | WR3 Demaryius Thomas | TE Greg Olsen | FLEX1 Devante Parker | FLEX2 C.J. Anderson / Mike Williams / Theo Ridick | PK Stephen Gostkowski | DEF Los Angeles Chargers

The starting lineup isn’t just solid but there are a lot of depth players with upside. Absolutely love this team! And so does Dr. Roto. Just listen to his podcast!
