Week 5 commenced with shock when the 49ers, who were missing several key players, upset Matthew Stafford and the Rams, 26-23 in overtime on Thursday. 3,524 entrants (28.4%) were eliminated when Los Angeles failed to hold serve despite being 9-point home favorites.

The unexpected upsets did not end at the opener, as perhaps the worst beat to knock-out entrants in recent memory, came late Sunday afternoon when the Cardinals blew a 21-3 halftime lead —resulting in a stunning 22-21 victory by the previously winless Tennessee Titans.
A sequence of bizarre fourth-quarter blunders commenced with Arizona RB Emari Demercado inexplicably dropping the ball prior to crossing the goal line on a 72-yard run –resulting in a touchback and not a touchdown.
The craziness did not end there as just minutes later Cardinals CB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson intercepted Cam Ward –only to then fumble –which was then recovered by Titans WR Tyler Lockett in the endzone for a touchdown – leaving 3,152 contestants (25.4%) in a state of disbelief.

Circa Survivor, which drew a record-breaking $18,718,000 prize pool this year, does not require the need to cover any point spread. However, simply picking the winner has proven quite elusive once again as 14,072 (75.2%) contestants are out prior to the start to the start of Week 6.
Week 5 Circa Survivor: 6,676 eliminated, 4,646 remain chasing the $18.7M prize. The 49ers-Rams upset and Cardinals-Titans chaos shocked the field!
