Quarterbacks
Brock Purdy ($6,800) @ ATL
Purdy is tied for the league lead in TD passes with 14 through 6 games. He adds in some decent ground yardage too, about 26 yards per game, which has him as the second-highest point scorer at the position and QB4 in points per game. This week he sees a struggling Atlanta pass D. Caleb went for 305-1 last week, and the week before, Tyler Huntley threw 2 TDs and ran in 1. The Falcons have seen the most pass attempts and completions this season against their D and have allowed the third-most passing yards. CB Billy Bowman looks like he might miss this game, and the Falcons are already without AJ Terrell.
Jordan Love ($6,400) @ DET
Packers @ Lions has easily the highest over/under on the main slate at 53.5, a full 4 points clear of the next-closest game. Green Bay will get Josh Jacobs back, which should help on the ground, but I still don't expect this to be even an average run game, at least not in Jacobs' first week off suspension. The matchup literally cannot get better, as Detroit is the worst defense against QBs on the season. The Lions have allowed Top 7 weekly QB finishes to every single QB through 6 weeks. Detroit is also 30th against WRs and dead last defending the TE, so there are matchup advantages everywhere. Love had multiple TDs in both games against the Lions last year, including a 4-TD performance on Thanksgiving.
C.J. Stroud ($6,200) vs. NYG
Speaking of offenses with zero run game, we arrive in Houston, where they boast 3.6 yards per carry, 4th-worst in the league. Stroud has picked up the slack with at least 260 yards in 5 of 6 starts and multiple TDs in three straight. There is also a college connection with the recent addition of Marvin Harrison Jr., and Houston is hoping to get Tank Dell back from IR. It's a strong matchup too, with the Giants having allowed multiple scores to every QB they've faced except Cam Ward. One of my only concerns is that the Texans' O might not be asked to do much with J.J. McCarthy back in the saddle at QB for New York.
Bo Nix ($5,600) @ ARI
If not now, when? Nix has been junk for weeks outside the second half of the Rams game. He had only 107 yards against the Seahawks last week and has the worst air yards per attempt in the league. However, the Cardinals are one of the softest landing spots in the league. They've allowed multiple touchdown passes to five straight QBs, and at least 220 yards to each of those QBs, too. Nix has some low-depth options like RJ Harvey and Evan Engram who can make a little something out of nothing as well, and those stats count. Let's be real, I wouldn't recommend starting Nix in many scenarios, but if you're going for a Peacock-like win, he's going to be almost at 0% ownership, and if he returns like 16 points, he hits value. That's like 220 yards and 2 scores, which is well below what the Cards allow.
Running Backs
Jahmyr Gibbs ($9,700) vs. GB
You don't need me to convince you that Gibbs is good, but I will say that he has more 40+ point games than games under 20 points. The Packers have faced one other STUD running back this year, and it was Bijan Robinson. He went for 194 yards and 2 scores on the ground and added another 19 receiving yards, and his running mate Brian Robinson had 50 yards and a score too. Gibbs basically doesn't share the backfield. It's a hefty price tag, but we might be in for an enormous Gibbs day.
Christian McCaffrey ($7,900) @ ATL
San Francisco will likely be without Deebo Samuel on Sunday, and Mike Evans is trying to play despite leaving yet another game early with injury, this time Achilles soreness. That doesn't sound like the type of injury you'd want to push the limit on with a 33-year-old who keeps getting hurt. Assuming both are hurt, the 9ers will turn to another 2014 1st-round pick WR who just turned 33 in Brandin Cooks, along with a pair of former 4th-round picks who've combined for 6 career catches. All of this is a long way of saying that CMC is about to be loaded up with volume against an Atlanta run D that's permitted 353 combo yards and 4 touchdowns to enemy backs in the past two weeks. The Falcons are also terrible defending backs in the pass game, having allowed the 4th-most catches to the position.
Braelon Allen ($6,100) vs. MIA
This only works if Breece Hall is inactive again this week. He didn't practice at all on Wednesday but went in limited fashion on Thursday. If Hall is active, I think it's probably a time-share, and I don't want to spend $6,100 on a split backfield. If it's Allen all alone, this is juicy, though. In the last 2 weeks, Allen has the second-most carries in the NFL, the third-most rushing yards, the most yards after contact, and the most runs of 10-plus yards. The Dolphins have allowed the third-most touches to opposing backs at 30 per game and are bottom five in both combo yards and touchdowns allowed to opposing runners.
Woody Marks ($5,400) vs. NYG
I do realize part of my excitement for Stroud is from the lack of a Texans run game, but Marks is in a great spot as a 5-point home favorite with very little backfield competition. David Montgomery will be out again, leaving just Jawhar Jordan and Dare Ogunbawale to take touches. Without Monty in Week 6, Marks saw 18 of the 25 running back opportunities and dominated Jordan in snaps, 78% to just 22%. The Giants are a bottom-12 D against RBs despite having played games against the 3rd, 6th, and 13th-worst rushing offenses. Washington would be down near the bottom as well if you removed QB rush yards. The price is too good for someone we can safely project for 15+ touches.
Wide Receivers
Puka Nacua ($8,600) @ LV
The Rams are in a must-win spot in Vegas without Davante Adams. This sets up for a massive Puka game, as only one Rams WR other than Puka and Tae saw even a single target in Week 6. Further helping matters, the Raiders have been getting absolutely trucked by the position recently. In the past month, Chris Olave had 9-107 and Tyquan Thornton 5-111-2, and then they gave up a combined FIVE WR TDs to New England and Buffalo despite both opponents being without their WR1s in AJ Brown and DJ Moore. In 3 career games without Davante, Puka has 12-225-2, 5-47-1, and 10-76-1, and he saw double-digit targets each time.
Malik Nabers ($7,300) @ HOU
Well, JJ McCarthy is starting this week. Out of 29 QBs who threw a ball last week, JJ was 29th in catchable pass rate. But even with him throwing the ball all over the yard, he managed to toss for 243 yards and a score in 11 minutes. And we're not talking about using McCarthy here, just focusing on a wide receiver who's had 35 targets in the last two weeks. Now, I know that JJ iced the other JJ in Minnesota last year. But he was able to connect with Nabers for 4 catches and 95 yards on 5 targets in the fourth quarter last week. The Texans have allowed the second-most receptions and yards to wide receivers on the season, and three different Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers managed to get to double-digit PPR points last week against Houston. The passing tree in New York is much more focused.
Matthew Golden ($6,500) @ DET
The Lions defense is dog water. Every team that's had a good WR has had a huge day against the Lions. Let's go through them: Chris Olave went for 10 catches and 182 yards. The Bills went without DJ Moore in their game. Garrett Wilson had 10 catches, 107 yards and a score. Tetairoa McMillan had 14 catches, 192 yards and two scores. Then the Cardinals didn't go bonkers, but they haven't been doing that. Golden is 5th in the NFL in targets and third in the NFL in red zone targets and red zone target share. He's 7th in the league in yards after catch and 10th in the NFL in average yards per target at 14.1. He's a golden goose, and still priced as a mid-grade WR.
Ja'Kobi Lane ($3,200) vs. CIN
Lane is a 6-4 rookie 3rd-round pick who ran a 4.47 40 and had a ton of steam coming out of the preseason. He injured his wrist in Week 1 and just returned from IR to go 4-40. Rashod Bateman left last week but is practicing in limited fashion. Lamar is also limited in practice. With Bateman leaving early last week, Lane was tied for 2nd on the team in targets and catches. We need some borderline min-priced guys if we want to play three expensive RBs, which I think we want to. If Bateman is out, I really like Lane. Doubly so if Lamar returns.
Tight Ends
George Kittle ($5,900) @ ATL
Quickly revisiting the 9ers' injured pass-catching situation in Week 7: it's bleak. If both Mike Evans and Deebo miss the game, that would remove over 40% of the team's target share from the equation. Kittle should be able to benefit in a big way, as Atlanta has really struggled against TEs this season. They are bottom 10 in catches, yards, and TDs to the position. Kittle has at least 4 catches in five straight games, including 5 touchdown catches in that span. There's shootout potential too, as this is the second-highest total on the slate at 49.5.
Tucker Kraft ($4,900) @ DET
The signs of life have been there for Kraft. He has at least 5 catches in three straight games, and his yardage totals have increased, but he hasn't yet had that big, bold blow-up game this season. Enter the Lions, who've already allowed 9 different touchdowns to the tight end position this season. That's a full season total for many teams, and the Lions already had their bye, so they've accomplished this feat in only 5 games. Every team that faced the Lions had multiple tight end touchdowns except for the Panthers. They've allowed 7 different tight ends to hit double-digit PPR points this season.
Tyler Higbee ($3,700) / Colby Parkinson ($3,300) @ LV
As with Puka, a lot of the appeal here is how condensed the Rams passing game will be. WRs other than Puka don't get targeted, but Stafford has had a nice connection with his tight ends this year. Higbee has at least 4 catches in four straight games. In Week 3, when Puka was out, Higbee had his best game of the year, going 8-62-1 on 11 targets. I prefer Higbee, but if you do need to save that $400, Parkinson is a solid option. Forced into a bigger pass game role last week, he turned in a solid 5-31-1 line. He's shown an ability to be a useful fantasy TE when at low cost, having turned in 6 double-digit Fanball games last season. It's an elite matchup too, as Vegas is bottom 4 defending against TE catches and yards.
Mason Taylor ($3,300) vs. MIA
Why not Kenyon Sadiq? Mason Taylor is on the field a ton more: 76 snaps over the last two games for Taylor and only 35 for Sadiq, so Taylor is more than doubling up on playing time. Targets have been 7 to 3 in favor of Taylor in that span. And the Dolphins defense is one that just tries to keep offenses in a bubble and avoid big chunk plays, which means a lot of dump-offs to the tight end. The Dolphins have allowed the fewest receiving yards to wide receivers and the second-fewest receptions to the position, but have allowed the 9th-most receptions and 7th-most yards to tight ends. Case in point, T.J. Hockenson had 13 catches a few weeks back against the Fins. In Week 5, the Bengals had 4 tight ends combine for 8 catches and two scores.
Sleepers
Ollie Gordon, RB ($5,700) @ NYJ
Fun stat: Miami hasn't had a lead this season. But Ollie has scored in 3 straight games and has had decent volume in those games as well, averaging 16 touches in that span. The Jets are allowing the 5th-most rushing yards and a touchdown per game to the RB position. $5,700 is almost free for a starting running back who's getting that kind of usage in a matchup like this.
Savion Williams, WR ($3,300) @ DET
Stepping in for the injured Skyy Moore, Savion was activated off IR and immediately slotted in as the Packers' WR3, having run 27 routes and catching all 4 of his targets. Savion is also used on the ground, as he saw two carries on Sunday Night Football. Matt LaFleur loves him on jet sweep and gadget stuff. I will say, it was notable that in his first action of the season, he actually caught some passes on routes, not just schemed-up BS. He wasn't really doing that last year. Cheap way to get access to the highest total on the slate.
