Week 17: Def vs WR Matchups Report (yardage allowed to WR1s, WR2s, WR3s)

This Fantasy Football tool shows you how well (or how poorly) each pass defense is performing against each position this NFL season.

RECEIVING YARDS ALLOWED BY POSITION

This tool is FREE THIS WEEK TO EVERYONE! We want to make sure you make the playoffs.

This new featured tool displays how each defense performs against their opponent’s receiving yardage gained by position.

So for example, if you see a team is ranked 1st vs. WR #1, that defense is currently the best at limiting their opponent’s WR #1 yardage compared to other teams. Or if you see a team is ranked 32nd against WR #2, that defense is the worst against WR #2’s or more accurately, the defense is allowing the most yards to WR #2’s compared to the other teams in the league. This a great tool to find and exploit useful matchups. Don’t forget to check out all the positions as well (WR #1, WR #2, Other WRs, TE & RB).

Defensive Back Update

CAR Panthers DB Stephone Gilmore

Gilmore is expected to sit out Week 17 with a groin injury. While the former DPOY isn’t as elite as he once was this is still a tough loss for a team that needs its defense to win games for them.
MIA Dolphins DB Justin Coleman
Miami gets Coleman back this week as he’s been activated from the Covid IR. He’s not a huge difference-maker, but in a must-win game the Dolphins need all the help they can get against A.J. Brown and the Titans.
KC Chiefs Tyrann Mathieu
Mathieu reportedly feels great and is fully recovered from his quad injury. While I wouldn’t say this directly impacts any receiver because of his playstyle. He is a disruptor and playmaker and is a boost for this defense and hurts the quarterback more than the workouts.
DAL Cowboys DB Malik Hooker
The Cowboys have activated Hooker from Covid IR. He is not an integral part of this defense but is still another piece of a defense that is not to be reckoned with.
GB Packers DB Jaire Alexander
On the last day of his 21-day window, the Packers activated Alexander to avoid him reverting to season-ending IR. Because of when they activated it seems likely he could still sit out this week. However, if he does play he is one of the best cover corners in the NFL and a huge boost for an already strong pass defense.
AZ Cardinals DB Bashaud Breeland
The Cardinals signed the veteran corner who garnered attention from every cornerback needy team in the lead. He started 13 games for Minnesota and was not cut because he was bad but had arguments with the coaching staff. This is quietly a sneaky-big add for the Cards and an upgrade for this pass D.
LV Raiders DB Casey Hayward
Vegas placed Hayward on the Covid IR. He’s a good player and is in on just about every snap. This would be a tough loss for the Raiders if he can’t get cleared on Saturday. We will have to wait to see if he can test negative and make it on the field Sunday.
LA Chargers DB Nasir Adderly
Adderly has been placed on Covid IR and ruled out for Week 17. He has been a key piece on this defense and his absence will be felt both in coverage and in the rushing attack. This is an upgrade for the Broncos’ wide receivers if the quarterback can get them the ball.
LA Chargers DB Chris Harris
Harris has been ruled out and placed on the Covid IR. This is a tough loss for the Chargers and an upgrade for Jerry Jeudy. With the Charger missing multiple defensive backs this week the only thing holding back the Denver pass-catchers is their quarterback.
BAL Ravens DB Anthont Averett
Averett suffered a fractured rib last week and is unlikely to suit up Week 17. This is a brutal blow to an already decimated secondary. The Ravens defense has looked like the worst in the NFL as of late. Start all your Rams. They should have their way with this defense.
