Fantasy Football Offseason: May 24 Fact or Fiction?
Every week I take a look at some NFL “coach speak” or “player speak” to see which are fact and which are fiction for Fantasy Football owners.
Indianapolis Colts HC Frank Reich says he is not worried about the fact the QB Andrew Luck has not resumed throwing the football.
Fact or Fiction? Fiction: If Reich is not worried about Andrew Luck, he is insane. Luck hasn’t thrown a pass in over a year and with the season about three months away, it would be good to know if Luck can throw the football or not. The Colts have improved their offense by signing TE Eric Ebron and drafting RB Nyheim Hines and WRs Daurice Fountain and Deon Cain, but if Luck is not there to throw them the football, they will finish with one of the worst records in the NFL once again.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco wouldn’t rule out re-signing TE Antonio Gates.
Fact or Fiction? Fact: I would be shocked if the Chargers didn’t sign Gates now that Hunter Henry is out with a torn ACL. Chargers QB Philip Rivers is in the tail end of his career and signing Gates will give him a player who knows the offense. Losing Henry is a huge blow to the Chargers, but they do have excellent depth at wide receiver. If they resign Gates, they can use him specifically in red zone packages which would help them score more TDs.
Bears WR Anthony Miller has a good chance to win the slot receiver job.
Fact or Fiction? Fact: Even though Kevin White says that the sky is the limit for him, the Bears are committed to Allen Robinson as their WR1 and Taylor Gabriel as their deep threat. This leaves the slot receiver job wide open for Anthony Miller who should be able to slide right in and get about 50 receptions this season. Miller is never going to be much of a TD machine, but he certainly is someone who can move the chains and provide late value in PPR formats.
Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen has memorized the team’s playbook in three days.
Fact or Fiction? Fact: Josh Rosen’s intelligence is off the charts, so it’s no shock that he already knows the playbook. One of my followers on Twitter told me that the last player they remember who did something like this was Peyton Manning with the Colts. Rosen will most likely start the season as the backup to Sam Bradford, but I can easily see him starting by Week 8. Rosen is a terrifically talented player who is on a mission to prove his detractors wrong. I think he would be a great QB3 in best ball leagues this season.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is taking reps as the QB3.
Fact or Fiction? Fiction: Allen might be the QB3 in May, but there is no way he will be the QB3 by Week 1 of the regular season. Newly signed free agent A.J. McCarron will be the starter for sure, but second-year QB Nathan Peterman was so horrific when he played last year that the team has little confidence in his abilities outside of holding a clipboard. Look for Allen to learn behind McCarron and start only if McCarron is injured or if the Bills are out of playoff contention.
