This is a massive slate, where when I first looked at it last I didn’t like it. The more I’ve dug into it, the more I liked it. I like it enough to throw a lineup in the $535 Pickle single entry. That lineup will consist of my core 4 and one of my top arms. Overall I think pitching ownership should be spread out 4 good arms at the top.
PITCHING
Nola/Max – I guess we can group these guys together considering they put up a combined 100 points on FanDuel. Max is crazy expensive, so if I were to pick one it would be Nola. Also, the fact that he’s put up back to back 61 point monster scores helps. (Risk factor 4)
Flaherty – extremely consistent in his last 4 starts. He’s had 4 straight quality starts, while also striking out at least 7 and 3 wins. He’s limited hitters to just a .207 average at home, while striking out 29.6% of batters. (Risk factor 4)
Buehler – another extremely consistent arm over the past month. He’s struck out 38 batters, while allowing just 4 runs, and picking up 4 quality starts in his last 5 starts. LA beats the snot out of Texas tonight as well, so he should be in line for a W. (Risk factor 4)
Freeland – He’s been so tough against lefties on the road, allowing just a .184 average and 1 home run, while striking them out at a 28.2% clip. He’s pitched well in August striking out 36 batters in 31 innings, and allowed 2 home runs. He’s also had 4 straight quality starts. (Risk factor 5)
Junis – My guy tonight for most of my lines. He’s dominated Detroit this year…..
.188 average
1.64 ERA
21.7% k rate
0.82 whip
84.3% left of base
27.4% hard contact
He’s cheap, and the salary relief will help us fit some big bats we want, that are in great spots.
Other guys I’m ok with rostering
Pannone
Johnson
STACKS
Dodgers – More than likely the chalk tonight. Jurado is a ground ball pitcher so our best bet it to take the fly ball hitters. (Machado still a good play)
Over the past 14 days
Turner 58.5%
Dozier 54.3%
Joc Jamz 52.9%
Grandal 44.4%
Muncy 38.5%
Puig 38.1%
Milwaukee – Desclafani struggles a bit against lefties allowing 12 home runs, with 6 of those coming at home. Thames, Yelich, Shaw, Aguilar and Moose all coming in with a .357 xWoba
Boston – Urena has given up a .299 average and 4 home runs to lefties on the road this year. It’s hot in Boston and Urena can’t hide behind the pitcher park in Miami.
Tampa – We know Teheran’s problem is lefties at home, but it doesn’t help that 5 rays come into SunTrust with over a .400 xWoba
Wendle .492
Pham .429
Adames .408
Kiermaier .493
Duffy .427
Houston – This team is on fire, and need to finish off Oakland to give themselves from breathing room in the AL West. Over the past 7 days, they’re hitting .341 as a team with 9 home runs and only a 13% k rate.
