Jaguar Lou’s Top Picks for 1/31/2018
If you’re not max entering GPP tournaments, I strongly recommend only playing single entry and 3-5 person leagues.
PG Terry Rozier
With Kyrie Irving out, Terry Rozier becomes a must play at reasonable salaries around the industry. Rozier will match up against Jarret Jack while running the Celtics offense. Make no mistake, Terry Rozier is no bench player. When Terry starts he picks up right where he left off in his previous start and exceeds value. Without Irving tonight, I expect Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and Al Horford to be the primary beneficiaries.
Other GPP PG Option(s): Goran Dragic & Kemba Walker
Note: Goran Dragic has a great matchup tonight against Isaiah Thomas and the hobbled Cleveland Cavaliers.
SG Wesley Matthews
Wesley Matthews will face Devin Booker for at least 35 minutes tonight. Phoenix is allowing a massive amount of points to opposing shooting guards over their last 5 games, 74.9 to be exact almost twice their season average. Safe price, guaranteed minutes, good matchup – Lock him in!
SF Lebron James
With Kevin Love confirmed out for the next several weeks and the rest of the lineup consisting of mainly support players, Lebron James will see his usage go through the roof tonight against the Miami Heat. Even if James shoots poorly from the field, the sheer fact that he could be on the court for 40 minutes makes him a must play despite his high salary. The Cleveland Cavilers are favored by 2 points with a 215 over-under.
Other Small Forward Option(s): Josh Richardson, Mario Hezonja **If Gordon is out** & Paul Zipser (Value GPP)
PF Kristaps Porzingis
Kristaps Porzingis has a great matchup against Al Hordford and/or Aaron Baynes. The Boston Celtics are notorious for not being able to protect the paint and without Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart Boston will have their problems. Kristaps Porzingis will benefit from these things. Kristaps Porzingis might be expensive, but I believe he is worth his salary tonight due to his potentially high ceiling.
Other Power Forward Option(s): Frank Kaminsky & Bobby Portis
C Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard is my favorite play on tonight’s slate. Howard has consistently been putting massive numbers and tonight he sees a favorable matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, his old team that he faced just two games ago. Dwight Howard had seven blocks in that game and was clearly determined to show his old team what they let go. In addition, Marvin Williams will be out for tonight‘s game leaving all the rebounds in the game for Dwight Howard. Frank Kaminsky will back up Marvin Williams and is a viable value play for tonight as well.
Other Center Option(s): Marc Gasol & Bismack Biyombo **If Gordon is out**
