It’s Opening Day for Everyone!

It’s Opening Day for Everyone!

MLB is back y’all! Finally, mercifully, officially, and you don’t even need Netflix. Let’s dig in!

Mutants of the Day:

Cristopher Sanchez (SP): 6 IP, W, 0 ER, 10 K’s, 3 H, 0 BB

Sanchez at home = Cy Young. After looking at his home/road splits, the Phillies should decorate all visiting ballparks in Phillies colors before he arrives.

Jacob Misiorowski (SP): 5 P, W, 1 ER, 11 K’s, 2 H, 3 BB

The K’s are ridiculous of course. But against the White Sox, should we be grading on a curve here?

Tarik Skubal (SP): 6 P, W, 0 ER, 6 K’s, 3 H, 0 BB

Picking up right where he left off and a much better outing than his NL Cy Young counterpart.

Jose Soriano (SP): 6 IP, 0 ER, 7 K’s, 2 H, 4 BB’s

Doing his best Skubal impersonation, Soriano showed flashes of brilliance last season. Can this be the year he strings them together?

Brandon Lowe (2B): 2/4, 2 HR’s, 3 RBI, 2 Runs

At first glance the most unlikely league leader in homeruns. But then again, he hit 31 last year, so maybe there is something brewing here for a big season..

Dominic Canzone (DH): 2-4, 2 HR’s, 2 RBI, 2 Runs

Who? An unlikely source of production in that Mariners lineup but just someone to keep an eye on for now.

Turds of the Day:

Paul Skenes (SP): 0.2 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, K

What happened?? Ohhh’Neil Cruz happened. Some of these runs should be unearned but regardless, not quite what you want with your first round pick.

Matt Boyd (SP): 3.2 IP, 6 ER, 7 K’s, 6 H, BB

Really? Against the Nationals? Let’s take a mulligan here and see what he can do next week at home facing the Angels.

Welcome to THE SHOW, kids! Jump on these rookies immediately if available:

  • Kevin McGonigle (SS): 4-5, 2 2B’s, 2 RBI, 2 Runs
  • Chase DeLauter (OF): 3-5, 2 HR’s, 2 RBI, 3 Runs
  • Munetaka Murakami (1B, 3B): 1-2, HR, RBI, Run, 2 BB
  • Carson Benge (OF): 1-3, 1 HR, RBI, 2 Runs, SB, BB
  • JJ Wetherholt (3B, SS, 2B): 1-4, HR, 2 RBI, Run
