Scott Atkins’ NFL Mock Draft Final
What a wild ride this NFL Mock Draft season was!
The Commanders zeroed in on Jayden Daniels and the Patriots fell in love with JJ McCarthy. This sent the Vikings into a frenzy trying to move up to four to take their Quarterback. Even the Giants and Raiders hit the phones but the Cardinals with all that draft capital were locked in on MHJ.
Now trades throw a huge wrinkle into any mock and sometimes it’s best to not try to predict any trades at all because if they don’t come in, your whole draft can be thrown off. So of course this year, I had to project a record FOUR trades! D
- The first with the Vikings. After unsuccessfully prying away the 4 pick from the Cardinals, Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers pick up the phone and say DEAL in order to plug their holes at OL and WR later in the round.
- I thought a lot about moving the Giants up one spot for the Chargers but in the end I chose the Vikings as the Chargers dance partner. Afterwards, the Giants surprise everyone with their selection of Rome Odunze (who we heard they had at the top of their WR board).
- The Jets then see an opportunity to lock in the last of the three stud WRs and trade up to 8 in a deal with the Falcons, who get the guy they would have taken at 8. That’s what they call a win-win for both teams.
- The Eagles move up from 22 to 12 with the Broncos to snag their top DB in the class while the Broncos trade down and select their QB Michael Penix not Bo Nix.
- The Steelers trade up with the Colts for an early draft day move, swapping picks to ensure they get their corner while the Colts had their eye on a certain WR from LSU to help pour some jet fuel on the Anthony Richardson led offense.
