Steve Renner MLB DFS – 9/19

SNAPSHOT

One of the final big slates in MLB DFS this year.  Lots of good pitching tonight as well.  Time to crush it!

WEATHER UPDATES, LOOKS RISKY IN THESE SPOTS:

  • High Risk
    • OAK vs DET
  • Med Risk
    • LAD vs PHI
    • MIN v NYY
  • Low Risk
    • WAS v ATL

PITCHING

Max Scherzer … Unlike Kershaw last night, Max should give you good value tonight for where he is priced on both sites.  Atlanta isn’t a high strikeout opponent and they got to him LATE last week when he should have already been pulled.  Lets see if Dusty Baker learns his lesson and limits Max to no more than 105 pitches tonight.  I doubt he does.  Max is the top guy on both sites and is a much strong play on FanDuel because his price is lower compared to the field there.

Yu Darvish … Adding Darvish in here.  I don’t see the Dodgers losing another game to my new favorite team the Phillies tonight.  Darvish finally got his act together last start and thus I’m giving him some love tonight.

Zack Godley … Godley has done very well this year and has become one of the strong cash game plays every time he starts.  That said, he has one of the least predictable umpires today and carries some risk there.  The matchup vs San Diego is very good.  He will be on my main DK team instead of Max.

Marcus Stroman … Stroman will dominate the Royals tonight.  He doesn’t get a ton of strikeouts, but he will pitch well vs this KC team.

Chris Archer … I expect Arch to go WAAY under owned and makes for a fantastic tournament pivot.  Because they’re facing the Cubs he’ll be passed over in favor of Godley and Max tonight but we know he is dominant at home and the Cubs offense is very boom or bust.

SNEAKY ARMS / SP2

Suter was $$$ last night… Lets repeat that magic tonight.

Trevor Williams … I love me some T-Will the Thrill at home.  This kid’s overall numbers dont wow people because he’s had a couple HORRIFIC starts that really blow the numbers up.  However here are his last two starts at home…

15 IP, 10 K, 5 BB, 15 HITS, 0 ER.  Some magic in there at getting out of tight spots for sure but at 6600 that’s the perfect type of results.  Not to mention the Brewers lineup on the road is ice cold.

Johnny Cueto … 7k for a guy who owns the Rockies in San Francisco is still too cheap even though I hate rostering Cueto in the second half of seasons.  But for his price, the value is definitely there on DK today….

FAVORITE STACKS

Reds / Cardinals … All the fireworks in Great American Smallpark as it’s Jumpin Jack Flaherty against the lawfirm of Jackson, Stephens and Dongers…   Dejong, Wong, Suarez, Duvall, Votto

Diamondbacks … Right back to the well on this one.  Travis Wood has been horrific in his recent form and the Diamondbacks crush LHP these days.

Athletics … High humidity in Detroit today and while Khris Davis struggles vs LHP on the road for whatever reason, there is no denying that he and Matt Olson might go back to back against the Tigers bullpen tonight, which we should see before the 5th inning.

SNEAKY

Mariners .. The roof should be closed in SafeCo and while that is rare, it’s a big boost for hitting believe it or not.  Seattle should crush Martin Perez and whens the last time you saw a 9.5 total in Seattle?

Astros … This Lucas Giolito breakout and hype train is going to crash and burn tonight in Minute Maid Park.

FADES

Nationals … Seeing same lefty twice in one week.  Scary fade, but I got other spots I prefer.

Dodgers … Outside of maybe Chris Taylor I am not picking on Nola at home.

Yankees … Not a fan of them vs Berrios.

HITTERS

Catcher

  • Mike Zunino – Guy owes me…  We have some new subs here… For those who dont know.  His 2nd HR back in June cost me a seat at the FanDuel Live final.  I have never forgiven him…
  • Wilson Ramos
  • Yadier Molina

First Base

  • Matt Olson – Don’t care about facing a lefty.  Kid is on another planet right now.
  • Joey Votto
  • Paul Goldschmidt
  • Ryan Zimmerman

Second Base

  • Jose Altuve
  • Scooter Gennett
  • Kolten Wong
  • Robinson Cano

Third Base

  • Manny Machado
  • Rafael Devers
  • Adrian Beltre
  • Eugenio Suarez

Shortstop

  • Corey Seager
  • Zack Cozart
  • Paul DeJong
  • Carlos Correa

Outfield – Tier 1

  • Giancarlo Stanton – He’s going to chase the streak now and get it… Homers again tonight.
  • Jackie Bradley Junior – Let the good times rollll
  • Mookie Betts
  • George Springer
  • JD Martinez

Outfield – Tier 2

  • Rhys Hoskins
  • Chris Taylor
  • Tommy Pham
  • Christian Yelich
  • Andrew Benintendi
  • Matt Joyce
  • Dextah Fowlah

Outfield – Value Tier

  • Chad Pinder
  • Jesse Winker
  • Nicky Delmonico
  • Scott Schebler
  • Jayson Werth
  • Adam Duvall – Max + Reds stack will be popular given his and others prices.
