MLB DFS – Sat, 9/2

WEATHER

  • Lots of rain and 90% humidity in Baltimore.  But cool temps and wind breezing in from right field.
  • Some rain in Pittsburgh
  • Warm in Texas
  • Warm in Coors
  • Warm in San Diego

PITCHING

Yu Darvish … Yu tops the three headed pitching monster for me tonight against San Diego.  They’re a team I have grown fond of in the second half with a few niche players like Margot and Blash, however I have a hard time overlooking the fact that Darvish is going to give me 7 innings, 7 strikeouts and < 2 ER with the win against them.  This is the second game of a double-header so we do have to worry about the lineups on both sides, but it would only deplete the Padres further.

Max Scherzer … I don’t wanna play Max in Milwaukee.  Not for $11.7k on FanDuel and with 8 lefties in the lineup.  He can be beat up with the long ball and Thames, Shaw, Walker, Vogt all come prepared to do just that.  He should be lower owned than he normally is with the other two top end guys going tonight.

Chris Archer … Listing Archer third isn’t a red mark in anyway for me today on him, I just like Darvish matchup more.  I am not opposed to him today because of a nice K% upside although Matt Davidson and Yolmer Sanchez actually scare me off him.   He’s in play more on DK — but I won’t be using him (see below)

PITCHING – SP2

Brad Peacock … The Astros jumped all over Harvey in the afternoon game and the Mets actually managed to battle back on them.  Tonight’s game should be a 2-1 final with Peacock striking out just enough Mets to provide good value.

Tyler Mahle … I think this kid is gonna be a good arm down the stretch in September and I have noticed that rookie pitchers have done better on the road than at home this year.  Pirates offense is atrocious.

SNEAKY PITCHER

Carlos Rodon … Have you seen that Tampa lineup tonight?  It’s bad.   Really bad.   Longoria, who isn’t good anymore in the three hole with Souza who doesn’t hit HR off lefties ahead of him.  Puello, Bourjos, Hechavarria, Sucre and Danny Fricken Espinosa are 5 through 9.  Rodon is going to out duel Archer today and win this game 3-0.

FADES

Dan Straily … For those who are going to be saving $$ on pitching today, you’ll find yourselves landing on Dan Straily day.  Straily at home is better than Straily on the road, and it’s the Phillies.  He’s popular and has a favorable umpire, but for a guy who sometimes is shaky on the pitch count, I want no part of him.

FAVORITE STACKS

Rangers … Love Texas tonight on the side that will go overlooked in the best hitting conditions (non Coors).

Angels .. Angels in Arlington again.

Twins … Minnesota doesn’t really seem like a spot where a Cuban Lefty should be making his first major league road start.  Yet, here we are.  Attack lefties in Target!

TOP SNEAKY STACKS

Blue Jays … There’s “The Roof” in Arizona, and “The Wind” in Detroit and now we have “Humidity” in Camden.  It’s a ‘different’ kind of humidity obviously with the rain (science people, science!), but dont let that stop the balls from flying out.  Looks like a cloudy/misty day.  Almost like there’s a ton of Smoak in the air.

Athletics … Really warm temps and the Athletics jumped on Gallardo last time they saw him.  People don’t stack against Cotton enough either.

Nationals … Nationals will be under the radar today with the focus being on Max in this game.  Turner, Murphy and Lind with a little Rendon.
