Quarterbacks

Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans (elbow)

Mixed reports all week leading into Sunday and even more so on Sunday morning indicated Mariota would give it a go, or at least try to, against the Texans. And while Mariota was active in Week 2, he didn’t play a snap. Instead, it was Blaine Gabbert who led the Titans to their first win of 2018. Now there’s news Mariota is having some trouble gripping the football due to his elbow injury (not a doctor but that sounds like a pinched nerve and numbing in his hand/finger?). Consider him Questionable for Week 3.

DID NOT PLAY: Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles

Running Backs

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals (knee procedure)

Mixon was in and out of the Bengals Thursday Night game vs. the Ravens, and after the game, it was reported he would need a “clean-up” procedure in his knee, which he underwent on Saturday. The timeframe is two to four weeks, but Patriots running back Sony Michel had a similar procedure and took over a month to fully recover. It’s rough news for a player that was likely your 2nd or 3rd Round pick but can always hope for a quicker than normal recovery. While Mixon is out, Gio Bernard will see a BIG increase in workload. Mark Walton will also see an increased role.

Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings (hamstring)

Speaking with an NFL Network reporter after the team’s tie with the Packers, Cook says he was just cramping, and his hamstring injury is nothing to worry about. Cook had to leave the action in overtime after walking gingerly to the sideline. Cook only handled 13 touches, but it was unseasonably warm in Green Bay (86 degrees). Will have to keep an eye on Cook’s practice participation heading into Week 3.

Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams (cramps)

Gurley scored three touchdowns in Week 2 but exited the game a bit early when the Rams were up 28-0. With the game out of reach, Gurley sat out the entire 4th Quarter. This is not an injury expected to linger. Actually happy to see Sean McVay play it safe with the superstar rusher instead of putting him back in action during the blowout victory.

LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills (ribs)

Analysis: McCoy missed most of the second half after injuring his ribs. First reported to be broken, tests revealed the contrary. McCoy is expected to play through the injury, but you should consider him questionable for Week 2 with Chis Ivory and to a lesser extent Marcus Murphy rotating in the Bills backfield if McCoy does miss any action.

Jay Ajayi, Philadelphia Eagles (lower back)

Ajayi injured his back and headed to the locker-room on the Eagles 1st drive in Week 2 but returned to action in the 2nd Half and eventually scored a touchdown. It’s a positive sign he was able to return to the game but still worrisome given Ajayi’s injury history. With Darren Sproles also injured, Corey Clement would see a big boost in action if Ajayi was forced to miss anytime. Expect Ajayi to sit out of practice this week but suit up for the team’s match-up in Week 3.

DID NOT PLAY: Leonard Fournette (hamstring), Devonta Freeman (knee)

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers (calf)

The Steelers star receiver certainly did not look like his shifty, quick, and twitchy self in Week 2, especially when you consider Ben Roethlisberger threw for 452 yards and three TDs and yet Brown finished with just 67 yards on nine catches. He only came out of the game on a few plays and didn’t have a noticeable limp, but instead looked like a player powering through a tight calf. He was spotted on the sidelines having what appeared to be a heated exchange with a few members of the Steelers coaching staff, but there’s no indication he won’t be able to play in Week 3. Brown’s calf history dates back to last year where it cost him two games at the end of the season.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals (hamstring)

Headed to the sidelines in the third quarter with a hamstring injury, Fitzgerald reentered the game despite the 28-0 deficit. Expect the veteran to rest during the week and get in a lot of limited practices but should be ready to roll for Week 3. If by chance the injury is more severe than reported, Christian Kirk would get a bump as the Cardinals slot receiver.

Mike Wallace, Philadelphia Eagles (ankle)

Carted off the field in the first half, Wallace could be a candidate for injured reserve as reports indicate the receiver did some severe damage to his ankle. With Alshon Jeffery still a week or two away, the Eagles are desperate for playmakers in their passing attack. Wallace can be cut even in deep 14 or 16 team leagues.

DID NOT PLAY: Marquise Goodwin (quad), Devante Parker (finger), Alshon Jeffery (shoulder), Travis Benjamin (foot)
