Last year DFWC expanded rosters to 21 plus 3 IR slots. I want to suggest another tweak to this format. Convert the 3 IR slots to a TAXI SQUAD. Instead of only being able to stash players with the official IR designation, allow any player to be stashed on IR. Wanna stash Antonio Brown or Josh Gordon? No problem. Gronk or Luck in hopes of a return from retirement? Go for it. Young players who you see future potential in that aren’t ready for primetime? Stash away.
The limiting factor would be ease of access to the players on the Taxi Squad, otherwise it would be too much like just adding 3 roster slots. The second cutdown date would be to 21 active plus 3 taxi squad players. A player can be cut from a Taxi Squad at any time, but they can only be activated from the Taxi Squad in Week Nine prior to the Sunday 1PM (Eastern Time Zone) start of games OR during the off-season. This activation would not be allowed to cause the team roster to exceede the 21 player limit. Either someone would have to be dropped or a player would need to be swapped onto the Taxi Squad from the active roster. Players would be able to be added to the Taxi Squad at any time, but it will not be allowed to exceed the 3 player limit.
So what does everyone think? Is this a good change to advocate or not?

I made a comment about this earlier in the year to Scott, but didn’t get any feedback. I 100% agree we need a taxi squad. I would like a taxi squad added along with the overall rosters increased. My reasoning for adding a taxi squad is that it would actually give value to all draft picks in all 6 rounds. Now, everyone knows the 5th and 6th round picks are more likely going to get cut. Most teams are cutting their draft picks who are drafted from the 3rd round on, because of the limited roster space

I’m a little late to this thread, but I support the concept of a taxi squad and/or a roster expansion. Ray makes a good point on the proposed rules.

Taxi squad a good idea. BUT in that case cut the rosters back to 20. Otherwise free agents will be almost non existent. So in effect the old 20 active players. 3 taxi stashes. Maybe 1 spot exclusively for IR. Totalling 24.

Most dynasty leagues are 25-30 players. These leagues are the odd ones without season long trading, small rosters, no taxi squad. Typically dynasty leagues are about finding the diamond in the rough and being rewarded for it. Placing players on the taxi squad, essentially letting them develop before being called up while not ruining your chance to compete. These small rosters don’t allow that. Aren’t season long leagues about having large free agent pools and dynasty about building great teams and doing the research needed to compete year after year? We don’t need large free agent pools, but rather more spots for players that may become starters in a year or 2. It gives a different dynamic, different ways to build teams allowing for different strategies to pay off. Let’s have a place to stash these no name rookies that become household names because you had a hunch or did some research and saw his upside. Tyreek Hill, Steffon Diggs, James Conner, all were likely drafted late and then dropped because we didn’t have the room. The person who drafted them should be allowed to put them on the taxi squad and reap the rewards a year or 2 later, not watching someone else win a league because of the small roster construction and they bid $20 FAB on them. Not to mention dropping those players for a defense or kicker, LOL

100% agree with Kyle. The bigger the rosters, the better.
