MLB DFS Fastballs & Flyballs 8/8/2019

Tonight we get a 8 game slate with a fair amount of high end pitchers. Listed below are my favorite options at Pitcher along with a few teams and bats.

PITCHERS

Domingo German

German has pitched well as of late posting 19 or more FPs in 5 of his last 6 games. One of those was against the BlueJays where he went 6 inning and only allowed 3 hits while striking out 7. He also pitched well vs the Red Sox twice in his last 2 starts. The Jays have struck out at a 24% clip over the past 30 days and hit .252. This year German has held both right and left handed hitters to under a .230 average and has a 26% K rate.

Dallas Keuchel

The Braves has shown to let Keuchel throw close to 100 pitches each games. In his 9 starts he has gone 7 or more innings 4 times. He faces Marlins team that has been weak vs LHP.  He faced them earlier this year and put up 20 DK points. I like his chances to go 7 innings and get 5 Ks tonight.

Dark Horse

Eric Lauer

I am not a big fan of Lauer, but he has pitched well at home this year. Posting a 2.60 ERA and a .7 HRs/9 at home this year. The Rockies have not hit well on the road this year and as of late with a 30% K rate vs LHP on the road over last 30 days. I don’t think he comes out of this clean but I can see him going 5-6 innings and giving up a few runs while striking out 6-7 hitters.

TEAMS TO TARGET

Boston Red Sox

Warm day in Fenway with the wind blowing out. Sox have been smashing LHP as of late with a .279 average and .260 ISO. The bats that stand out the most vs Peters (throws the curve 2nd most) Betts, JD Martinez, Travis with Bogaerts and Devers coming in next. Sox are expensive and most of the better pitching is up top today, so will be hard to fit in a full stack. Travis is cheap and crushes LHP.

*Travis, Betts, Martinez, Chavis my favorites.

Cubs vs Wood

Wood has allowed 11 hits and 3 HRs over his first 2 starts. Cubs have some bats that can do damage vs LHP – Bryant, Castellanos, Baez, Almora and Rizzo. Wood has actually been worse vs LHHs. Lucroy is a cheap C option that has hit well vs LHP. Nice park for power.

*Bryant, Baez, Castellanos, Almora

FAVORITE BATS (Mainly one/two offs)

Gio Urshela

Hits in 9 straight games with 5 of those with multiple hits. Urshela hits well vs LHP and would stack with Judge.

Hunter Renfroe/Wil Myers

Looks like Jon Gray is going to pick up decent ownership tonight. Few of the Padres bats have hits Gray well. Renfroe and Myers along with Machado. Myers is starting to hit the ball well and Renfroe matches up well vs Grays pitch type. Also Gray has been a bit worse on the road.
