Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (finger)
The Steelers passer injured his index finger on his left (non throwing) hand in the 2nd Quarter but was able to finish the game and didn’t show any signs of limitation.
Fantasy Impact: Throughout his career we’ve seen Big Ben battle through much more serious injuries than a sprained finger on his non-throwing hand so we don’t expect to see him to miss any action. If he draws the Questionable tag because of the finger, feel free to chuckle.
David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals (test for concussion)
Not much of an injury to report but David Johnson was tested for a concussion during the team’s Week 8 win over the 49ers. He was cleared on the sidelines and came back in the game.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson and the Cardinals have a bye in Week 9 so any lingering (short-term) symptoms should be cleared by Week 10.
Ronald Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Hamstring)
A non factor in fantasy despite dynasty and rookie loving fantasy managers hopeful for the contrary, Jones injured his hamstring in Week 8. No word on the severity of the injury but Leonard Fournette and Dalvin Cook have missed more than six games from hamstring injuries so there is a chance Jones is out a while.
Fantasy Impact Jones just hasn’t been able to push Peyton Barber out of the starting role and the injury will likely keep the rookie as the 2nd or even 3rd string RB for the next month. No need to roster Jones in 10 or 12 man leagues.
Will Fuller, Houston Texans (ACL)
Fuller is a dual threat… Threat to score or threat to get injured. Seems like Fuller, seven TDs in 10 games in 2017 and four TDs in eight games in 2018, Fuller will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. He missed six games last year, two games as a rookie, and will miss eight games this year. It’s certainly frustrating considering Fuller does put up BIG stats whenever he’s on the field (three games with over 100 yards and four TDs on the year). The Texans receiver should be recovered by Week 1 of the 2019 season.
Fantasy Impact: Unless you are in a dynasty or keeper league, Fuller can be dropped as he’ll miss the rest of the year. Rookie receiver Keke Coutee will now step into a larger role in the Texans passing attack. But Coutee is dealing with a hamstring injury and is considered Questionable for Week 9.
AJ Green, Cincinnati Bengals (toe)
During the wild ending in the Bucs-Bengals game, AJ Green came up limping on the team’s final drive. Could be turf toe or a sprained toe. Green had turf toe in 2014 which ended up costing him a few games.
Fantasy Impact: Bengals have a Bye in Week 9 so we won’t know if this is a lingering injury until sometime next week. Would be positive to see Green practicing on a limited basis instead of DNP.
Tyreek Hill, Kansas City (Groin)
The Chiefs speedster suffered a groin strain in the 4th Quarter and did not return to action during the team’s 30-23 win over the Broncos.
Fantasy Impact: The Chiefs don’t have a Bye until Week 12, so there’s no chance for Hill to recover unless he misses a game. This early in the week, I’d guess Hill ends up sitting out in Week 9 vs. the Browns. Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce would get a bump in targets along with fellow wide receiver Chris Conley.
