Week 6 Waiver Wire Preview

Running Backs

Wendell Smallwood — With Jay Ajayi out for the season there’s a good chance that Smallwood gets about 50% of the touches on Thursday night. Corey Clement is still not 100% healthy so Smallwood might even be the league ball carrier for the Eagles. That said, I wouldn’t go crazy on bidding on him on your waiver wire. The Eagles are thinking about making a trade for either Bell or McCoy so to invest heavily in Smallwood may come back to bite you later in the season.

Corey Clement — Clement is in a wonderful position to succeed now that Ajayi is out for the season. He’s going to have to share touches with Wendell Smallwood, but that’s OK because Clement is a very good receiver out of the backfield.

Ronald Jones — The Buccaneers are going to do whatever they can to give the ball to Ronald Jones and let him be their starting running back. Jones will have the opportunity however he is neither good at blocking nor receiving out of the backfield. So, with that in mind, know that Jones has some upside as a runner but not in PPR formats.

Alfred Morris — With Matt Breida out this week with a high ankle sprain expect Alfred Morris to get all the carries that he can handle against the Packers. Temper your expectations slightly as they may be playing from behind in this game, but he still should get about 10 to 15 touches this week which makes him worthy of being picked up off your waiver wire.

Tight Ends

Greg Olsen — Olsen should be back this week for the Panthers, and you need to get him into your lineup. If there’s a chance that he may have been dropped in your league go pick him up right now and pay what you need to get him

Cameron Brate — Brate is an outstanding pick up this week especially with OJ Howard injured. The Buccaneers have an exciting matchup against the Falcons, so I would think that Jameis Winston will go to his favorite target in the red zone early and often.
